Oh man, that would be wild if we crossed each other's paths back then and didn't even know it. 😆

Well you were likely there for music folders...I trolled reality show folders.  That was my thing.  I like music.

I hate reality shows.

technically it was Chevytalk (I think?) but I never posted on those, I just bought parts for my car off people

I got a set of Hooker Headers off a person who ordered them and never used them for $120

Not sure what they go for these days but that was about half their normal price back then

Fair point. I think when I was a VH1 board member they hadn't yet turned into reality TV land anyway. They were all about Behind the Music and 100 Greatest songs / artists of _______________.

Dan's JP3 Page.

Good times back in 2001.

My first ever was [as[ message board 04'... but I was just another piece of delicious meat in a line of hundreds if not thousands it had before and after.

I forget the actual name of it, I wanna say it was battle.net but I'm not sure that was it.

It was the lobbies in the command and conquer online multiplayer matchmaking.

Different servers and they all had chatrooms.

So, not really a "forum" but it was a place to interact w/ RTS nerds in real time while chat while planning matches.

Probably a skateboarding forum. I was a pre-teen back then, and years after joined so many forums
it's impossible to remember the exact name of the first, especially since the forum wasn't affiliated with any major skate companies/magazines.

Pretty sure I just searched "skateboarding forums" and joined each one on the first page of search results.

PlanetDescent, which was part of the GameSpy Network of gaming communities.  It was dedicated to the Descent series of 6DOF PC games from the mid to late 90s.  This had to be in...oh, 2001 or so.  I wound up becoming a staff member and doing news posts and file uploads and such.  The site eventually started to break down when its older coding wasn't compatible with GameSpy changes, and IGN has long since killed off the entire GameSpy brand, so it only exists in the Internet Archive now.  Some of the staff made a new site that carries on the name, and there are still a few die-hards who hang out there, but I haven't been by in a while.  There's another Descent-related forum I joined in 2002 that's still plugging along.

...damn I'm old.

I think I made an account on the Neopets forum way back in the day.

Recall getting banned from trolling or harassing at least a couple times.

Eventually got my account permanently suspended because I was exploiting the player-to-player bartering system.

Basically, you could put something in your shop; a very popular item, set it at a certain price, wait a little bit, then change the price.

If another used had clicked on your shop page link, they would go there, still see the low price, go to buy it; but, during purchase you've jacked that priced up, other user is informed they got the item and also notice that the price had gone up significantly.

Naturally, it, didn't take long to for enough people to cry to the help and my account got frozen.

It was Westwood Online, actually.

AOL's roleplaying forums.  They had an Incoherent Babbling section before asmb did. :)  People posted ongoing interactive stories for the characters they were rping in chat, posted funny bits of rp sessions, argued about shit like in Rants, etc.  Despite all the grumbling, the Rainman architecture was still the best forum software I've encountered, as far as ease of use, editing, and organization go.  I don't think you could post pics (I don't think we even had avatar icons), but that was mostly due to bandwidth issues.  I miss that whole scene a lot.  It was a pretty decent bubble to learn to internet in. :)

Embarrasing as it is.. I believe it was a Japanese Inuyasha forum.

Back when I was like 10 I would play MoHAA a lot and was somewhat decent job invited to a few clans, couple of them had message boards.

But, you know... I was like C-Tier clan forums so maybe like 10-20 people on them and most people just talked about server hosting and game nights for competitions.

Not sure how I ended up on the fan sites message bored the entire site was in japanese... I remember I ended up saying yes to some girl that wanted to try a long distance relationship from NC. Or like two diff girls that were really flirty.. Of course I was like 14 at the time or something. I almost forgot about it completely and I was going to say ASMB.
