Worse pain you’ve ever experienced

Still Me

Recommended Posts

Shot with 12ga pellets in the belly and thigh. Vision went upside down, tasted the color purple in my mouth, vision went weird like everything flipped upside down and the sky turned green. Then it just felt like a super bad cramp. The worst though was recovery, pretty much had to get cut in half to get rid of the bad skin had 3 hernias repaired, and no longer have a belly button. The recovery was the worst pain in my life. Any movement was agony, could barely eat aside from a small amount of liquids for a month. Slept through my meds once and woke up in searing pain. Going to the bathroom was a nightmare, especially having to wipe. Would have these plastic bulbs on my sides that would fill up with fluid and blood that I'd have to empty multiple times a day. I'd have nightmares where I'd be changing my bandages and there would be flies and maggots in the wound.

I'm the motherfucking wolverine....I live for pain......Never even broken a bone.

Seriously though, I've fell from 4 stories, been in several car wrecks that people say "how are you not dead", had a toe amputated, and glass removed from my eye ball....All of these things hurt, but I can't really gauge which was worse.

Not the most physically painful, but definitely one of the most  unique pains I've experienced was the electrical stimulation on my vocal chords to get the paralyzed one back up and running.

Basically they jammed electric needles into my voice boxand wiggled them around while I making me say "Aaaaaa" over and over again so they could watch with a camera in my throat.

So that was fun.

And when I say "wiggled around," I mean pretty strongly. Like, grab your voice box and wiggle it around. That, only with needles.

I had surgery for a hernia when I was like six or seven and I still remember the sensation of waking up right afterward, and the next closest thing after that would probably be when I partially dislocated my knee (way worse than the times I did my shoulder as a kid bc u walk on it).

Cluster headache. I had one once that lasted 16 hours. About 12 hours in I was sitting in the closet with a .45 pressed against my head trying to psych myself up enough to blow my brains out so I wouldn't have to feel it anymore.

Luckily these days I have handy little pills that dissolve under my tongue and end it within 15 minutes. It's still extremely painful and horrid, but short at least.

Honestly, it's a toss up because after awhile, everything hurts equally.

  • shattered kneecap in a snowblower - wasn't taken to a doctor until months later because my family is dicks.
  • tumor in my jaw - the pressure was so bad I took a hat pin and jammed it through the bone to shunt some of the liquids away.
  • a couple of mild 'clean' rushed-to-the-ER infarcts - hurt like hell.
  • waking up during the second jaw surgery and not being able to be put back under because I had already adapted to everything - do not recommend.
  • waking up after gallbladder surgery - worst sore throat ever because the tube tore my esophagus.
  • tumor biopsy - actually hurt worse and for longer than the surgery itself; I was stupid for days after the surgery but the biopsy consisted of constant ice packs and pain meds that didn't work for almost a week with bruising that lasted over a month.
  • impaled on a fencepost, gut-side down - curled up around a frozen 2-liter bottle and didn't move for 3 days.
  • stabbed in the chesticle with a metal garden spike - itched like a bitch.

Probably forgetting a lot. :D I tend to walk it off when hit by a car after all.

Helps to expel the placental matter that's still lingering as well as to help the uterus contract back into shape. You can't have anything left behind after all. >.<

That.

The cesearean is painless, the recovery was a bitch. The nurse was really good though with helping me. Sitting up, scooting to the edge of the bed, and standing that first time .... felt like my guts were going to fall out. It took all of my strength to make it to the bathroom because I was determined  not to fall on that nurse. After I was able to get up and move thats when they started with the painkillers on a regular basis. Then my dumbass got cocky and was like oh Im cool now I dont need the painkillers Im strong ... that last dose wore off and I was like CALL THE NURSE I MADE A MISTAKE

The tube with the meds came out of my back so I felt all my labor pains the whole night in addition to the bad bruises I got on my arm from the automatic blood pressure cuff. The anesthesiologist was so fucking pissed when I went in for surgery and nobody realized I wasnt numb until I got on the operating table. Thats how I ended up with a spinal block. The night nurse I had that night was extra shitty. I dunno if she had just lost her bf, was a racist, or what but she was a whole bitch. Im not sure if they made her apologize the next night or she realized she was a bitch on her own. I had a new nurse the next night. All the other nurses I had were great though

wow.. not sure if I can top a shattered eye socket. I've almost completly severed a finger, and had almost a complete section of my lip cut through when it was busted one time, but I think fracturing my wrist catching myself after bailing from a really high wall wide out of a vert ramp skateboarding might've topped both of those two things on the pain index though honestly.

edit.

I think I've developed a pretty high pain tolerance over the years so it's hard to say...

Christmas Eve 2007 when I had to have emergency surgery on the family jewels

Fuuuuuuuck.....I mean, I can't even imagine.

Were you naughty, because when Santa tries to turn your jewels into lumps of coal instead of bringing you some, I think you may have crossed the line with that cat.

Probably the injuries I sustained to my feet during a state-wide soccer tournament when I was 12 or 13. Had special permission to play with the varsity team of my city's high school and we made it to the finals to see who would represent the state in the national tournament. Managed to get MVP during one game, so I was all sorts of jazzed about playing with the big kids. I was injured during the semi-final match when I was running down the field and turned 180 to chase the ball after it got kicked back. Couple other players collided with me and both my feet dug into the ground, and twisted in different directions. Broke almost every single toe, and both big toes had the toenails shift, break, and dig into my skin. Had to have surgery to remove all the shards of toenails that had embedded in my skin. Broke one ankle and sprained the other one. My very abusive stepfather was actually our coach as well as a nurse. He and another adult moved me off the field and I got to enjoy screaming and writhing in pain while he told the refs to continue the match. Additionally, he never took me to the hospital and gave me a pathetic job of treating me when we got home. We lost btw, so he was more upset about that than anything.

Some time later, my dad took me to the hospital and arranged for my surgery. I spent the rest of the year laid up or going between a wheelchair or crutches towards the end of the recovery.

The following year I started at that high school and went to try out for the varsity team. I was cut immediately as I was unable to properly maneuver or sprint, much less shoot/defend. I've been unable to play soccer since. But! I did manage to run a little dodgeball league in Texas a few years back, so there's that!

Physical, probably a fractured arm when I was around six.

Emotional, the loss of my childhood friend of ten years. Every year that passes, I think of how I've lived more years than I'd known him, and all that I know now (being so close to him) and who I've become, is somebody he never got to meet. But I know he would've welcomed me with great enthusiasm and love. And even though it's comforting, it's still a lot.

One summer I went on vacation to Hawaii with the family, there were man o war's all over the place, in the ocean and washed up on the beach (probably not any Portuguese ones though). My dad lived the first 14 years of his life in Hawaii and said he never witnessed anything like that before. My cousin ended up getting stung by one. He was pretty miserable.

wow.. I wonder how that feels.. Does it beat out the black widow...  From what I'm seeing it might be about the same. Not much in the way of fatalities but "excrutiatingly painful".. Infact on a scientific level I've been wondering if the pain I experienced from a female black widow bite I took as like a pre teen didn't cause my unusual pain tolerance. That is a weird kind of pain though.. It's not like getting cut or breaking bones.. I remember having to control my heart rate and being worried I was experiencing anaphylactic shock because I was literally able to time the throbbing in my arm to my heart beat and I remember the pain being incapacitating but also..friggin hallucination inducing also.. it was like periodic but extreme if that makes sense..  It still messes with me, but I like to think about it. Probably because it's theraputic.. A black widow bite probably was the single most painful thing I've experienced so far, but it's hard to describe coherently how the pain of that even feels once it's in full swing.

It's so painful you kind of go numb or the shock just blocks everything out idk...
