nameraka Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 my last name means fruitful. we must have been pumping out the kids back in the day.
SwimModSponges Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 I know the names of like half the people here. I probably couldn't match most to their usernames, but I know them.
GunStarHero Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 My family name derives from a Hebrew word that roughly translates to "stupid motherfuckers."
scoobdog Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 My ancestors come from a no-longer-existant place on an English River.
André Toulon Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Thank you for the Juco history lesseon.....My name has deep Germanic roots....

panic Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I had a paternal ancestor that apparently lived on a hill, so probably an unemployed Hobbit.
bnmjy Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 My last name derives from Constantine. Praise be to Byzantium.
Skiles Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I don't know what a Skiles would do. I'm a Skiles, and I don't even know what I do.
tsar4 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 One language has mine as being "Specter" or "Phantom". I like that.
PenguinBoss Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I feel like I'm being gaslighted, because no one has pointed out that Sponges said "mush" instead of "must."
PhilosipherStoned Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I didn't notice. My situational awareness is shot today. I also have no idea where he's going with that pun if it's supposed to be one.
SwimModSponges Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Typo, no greater conspiracy here. This time.
tsar4 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 And here I thought "Smiths" was a bunch of musicians.

Poof Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 If Taylors tailored and Smiths smithed what did the Blumkins do?
rpgamer Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 My family name was changed or poorly interpreted/transcribed upon immigration, so now it doesn't really have any meaning.

Like if your progeny got the last name "Doesn'tgetjokes."
PhilosipherStoned Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 I mean I figured it had something to do with burning fish but what does that have to do with being black? Trying to say they were slave cooks or something?

Trying to say they were slave cooks or something? That was an additional punchline thrown in for a shock chuckle. That's why I hid it behind a spoiler. To dissect the joke- I wanted to make fun of the opinions of racists by presenting an absurdization of a racist opinion.
K_N Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Mine means "Salmon" if you go back a bit and "Sea owner" if you go back far enough. I'm guessing we owned a lot of coastline at some point and then eventually just became fishermen or something.
NeurocideVibekillah Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 I think mine just means a person from Denmark.
