you too?

I mean, the entire state seems completely unbothered by this.  Could be the highly available weed, but even the shelves being bare isn't really causing your average person to freak out.  It just looks like business as usual other than that one glaring difference.

I think it's the 3 Seasons where Nature tries to kill everyone that makes them feel like they have some kind of Plot Armor

That or they just lack the general common sense to understand social distancing to curve infecting others

I may or may not be going back.

NYS is canvassing retired health care workers to see who's willing to go back to work if the situation gets worse. Might as well go out and find covid as wait for it to come find me.

We keep having these conference calls with corporate about how this virus isn't serious and its not going to impact us. Then yesterday somebody at the corporate office tested positive and their office is closed

I’m working from home until there’s no more billing because they closed the MRI facilities a few days ago.  After that I’m basically unemployed 😬

I've been working from home, but my productivity is shit thinking about all my family members with health problems(a lot), if their jobs will still be around, and how fucked up everything is going to get. Today, I have to get work done just to make sure I have money still coming in.

My job is in creating ads for webpages, so my company is open but everyone’s working remote.

Since we’re in the auto industry, there also isn’t as much pressure for us or our clients to stay closed or have our services cancelled.

i know you'll get some bailout but from what i've seen it doesnt seem like it would be enough...

we still at the starting stages of this thing.

There is no such thing as an adequate bailout for something like this. The bigger places and those that could afford to buy favor with politicians will get first and choices dibs on everything, then corporate heads of smaller businesses, maybe with a little trickle down to the people who actually do all the work at the floor level, and then the smaller personal businesses will get little 'gift baskets' of things they can attempt to apply for while their bills keep adding up. I wish I was being sarcastic or hyperbolistic about that but I'm not.

Some companies, both big and small, will be able to weather the losses and maybe roll it into some extra tax credit crap and just have a crappy year on the books. Some might end up dying in debt though. I worry about my favorite Asian grocery place - I've watched them grow it from the a crowded front end of a tear-down building to a fully stocked import grocery store complete with fresh crab and lobster tanks. She's put everything she's made into rebuilding that place and making sure it's stocked up for the various ethnic communities that can't get their old favorites anywhere else. This is a place that I'm honestly thinking about making a run to tomorrow if there is no shelter in place rule in-acted tonight and just buying some stuff to help her out. Dried squid lasts forever anyway, right? :D

More hours cut for next week. Hours are also being chopped all to hell for the following week too since we are working on the presumption that things will still be open / left to the discretion of various businesses. I went from 40 to 30 for next week. I cut my own hours for yesterday and today so that payroll could be used to keep a couple of part-timers on schedule for tomorrow at least instead of cutting them loose. -.-; I have between 8-10 weeks worth of PPTO + vacation saved up but... a lot of people at the store either don't have that saved up or they've already burned through some due to family or personal illnesses. We already have some doing food exchanges so that people have things like meat in their freezers. I'm making beef stew this weekend and freezing it - if someone needs something extra, one container = 3 meals. I also still have some chicken-in-a-pot frozen as well.

i know, i was trying not to be as pessimistic for the entire situation. im trying to keep my negative responses in check and leaving them in other more appropriate threads. this one was just a curiosity to see hows everyone doing. so far its nice to see many of us with jobs, but things already looking very uncertain like in your case. or extremely stressed like with still_me.

I work at a 24/7 gas station. If we close, it's a really bad sign. We're like the only place open at night right now. Plus, we still sell booze.

That's pretty much EVERY 24/7 gas station.

Work in a retail pharmacy, so no days off for me. Even got corporate letter stating I can work and be out while the stay-at-home order was given by the governor. Yipee...

All my company's properties are closed until May 1st, minimum. Beyond some security and groundskeepers no one is at any of the resorts or casinos. Some HR and operators manning the phones, though. Everyone else is on forced vacation but everyone was given full time status so we would all get benefits and be paid as if we worked 40 hours per week or our regular salary.

As happy as I am about that I doubt this will blow over by May 1st.

Won't do any good since the Republicans own the judiciary now.

How many hours a day can customers enter the building, all 24? Y'all closing for a few late night hours for sanitizing or anything?

All 24. Like I said, we're like the only thing open at night. Fortunately, business has slowed down by almost 40 percent, so it gives us plenty of time to sanitize.

yeah i dont think this is lowing over fast either. probably 2 months earliest before we slow this shit down and can start actually going out with restrictions like no large gatherings, social distancing. i think casinos looking for bailouts too, trump is friends with the industry.

Still working, still getting great hours, and I’m covered for nearly seven weeks if we are forced to close. I’m very blessed, just have to not get sick inbetween.

For those of you who might be currently sans job due to your place of employment being on a forced shut-down, a potential suggestion.

Grocery stores are allowed to stay open during this. They are super stretched for employees right now. They can't keep up with the demands to keep the shelves stocked even if the stuff is waiting in their back warehouse and they can't keep up with the expected sanitation needs. In other words, they are hiring. They need people during this particular problem and won't once the problem has come back under control. So, consider checking out your local grocery stores to see if they are hiring part-timers with the expected flexibility that if your old place re-opens, you can go there without any sort of two week notice. It might not be the paycheck you had before but at least it would still be a regular paycheck.

My company just laid off a whole bunch of people, me included. They are saying that they are hoping it's just temporary, and that we can all come back after things settle down. We'll see... 😕
