What do you want outta this place?

This is kind of an open ended question for me to mull ideas over, but what do you want out of this site?

As it exists does it fulfill the niche you want it to? Do you like how it functions?

Are there things you'd like to do besides post in classic forum style threads?

Would you like to see things more closely tied with Toonami/Adult Swim stuff here?

I can't promise i'll respond to everyone or even consider everything you say, but I'm interested in knowing for future ideas.

As for ways to do that I'm not sure. Like maybe find other groups and see if they'd share the site to there people in some way.

I am pretty much getting what I want out of it--talking to people, spinning yarns and being weird, making friends, trying my bluff hand at humor. 

I do wish people would use the other folders more often. And yes, rectangle icons would be bomb.

i know if there was more to do on the internet in general we could find ways.  i would also recommend that changing up the pinned threads more often,

will keep the folders looking more fresh and giving other topics more views/replies and success.  what about streaming, banners, and games?

The problem with the fuggs situation is that she leveraged the site for the illicit sale of narcotics. If we let her come back, and she does it again, that could be viewed as legal negligence from our standpoint.

If it were anything else, I'd say - sure, give her another chance. But I'm not willing to put my, or pat's livelihood at risk for someone who's willing to take advantage of our goodwill to commit a felony.

I'll talk to pat about it and see what we can do, but no promises.

Rectangular icons should be easy.

For more people and activity - you guys could definitely help with that, but if we can get a steady stream of donations keeping the site up, we can look into running some targeted ads to direct more like minded folks here.

Everyone wanted rectangle and larger, we had it forever on the last two iterations of this place. 

Depending on the theme, ips requires a few manal changes for size changes, not the round iirc

I get to just let loose and be me for a little while. How the place functions? Not so much there. It's a little hard to navigate for me. I eventually got the flow down, but it didn't really make sense to me with child boards and a couple of other things.

Are there things you'd like to do besides post in classic forum style threads? Community meetups/events for games like Cards Against Humanity, Fortnite, etc. Have some other ideas, too (UEMB Yearbook), but don't know where to start with them.

I'm vaguely surprised that no one said 'blackjack and hookers' . Almost proud of people. Or saddened that maybe no one actually thought of that. Not sure which.

That said, this place as currently is serves what purpose it needs to me. I like the simple, long-term posting allowed on a message board. I like that there are boards, plural, allowing for different people to do their discussion things without anyone screaming about too much Toonami / sports / politics / whatever is causing someone's nuthairs to burn. 

I would like there to be more new people and / or a more solid influx of the old members. But short of killing the [as] reddit holes, that might not be possible.

This is an interesting idea that we've tossed around in the past. If people are aware of or are members of other communities that could potentially merge, let us know. We currently market (if you can even call it that) ourselves as the original ASMB community, because I determined that it would be easier growing at first by laying a trail for lasped ASMB users before targeting new folks. Obviously we will broaden that out as a prerequisite to growing, and we don't need to leave it just at [as] - the original mission was to be a site centered around media, which is basically all-inclusive. And I think I've culled down the original folder layout to something now that would efficiently balance traffic rather than divide it into oblivion outside of general noise and Toonami. 

There would obviously be issues to sort out like creative control (also, do all their admin/staff etc. become the equivalent here?) or what a merger would actually look like (does the conversion tool that we used to transfer to this software allow you to merge a second board/its accounts onto this one, or would we literally be asking people to stop posting on site X and register here? i don't even know). But I think that assuming those sorts of logistics can be worked out favorably, that might be the best way to get a snowball going as the ASMB snowball tapers off.

One thing I am concerned about... When my band releases official music for sale (which should be quite soon) I really hope I am allowed to advertise it here. I'd just make one thread in FFA (hopefully the mods/admins will at least wait a day to move it to the music folder) saying "Hey, my band just put out our debut EP on bandcamp! Check it out!" with a link. And I would put the bandcamp link in my sig.
