i have a rifle that i keep in the house, but i keep my shotgun and pistol at my parents' in their gun safe because i only use them for hunting and i only hunt when i'm visiting my parents. looking to pick up compact handguns for myself and the wife (ruger lc9s / sr9c) for conceal carry, after we pay off a couple leftover debts from the old house later this year.

The one I always carry is a Taurus Millennium G2 .9mm

My nickel plated Smith & Wesson 39-2 is my "nice" .9mm

And I bought a Remington 870 12-gauge years ago that my stepdad just keeps in his gun cabinet because, let's face it, I don't hunt and he will use it more than I will. But it's technically mine xD

I used to have a .38 revolver (I forget the brand, was old and not worth much) as well, but I was not about to pay $52 for a box of 25 .38 shorts for a gun I'd get bored with and probably never even shoot at the range and wasn't worth much. Sold it for $200.

I have 2 bows and a pellet gun.  And a shitty CO2 pistol that doesn't shoot half the time.  As far as real guns go, no I don't own one yet, nor do I know if I will get one, unless shit really hits the fan.

I have a slight risk of putting the gun to my own head, so it's better to avoid having one, although I'm in a much better place mentally now than I was a few years ago.

Nope. That's how drunken late night suicides happen.

You have to separate the ammo from the gun. Separate them by a distance, put some ammo in a lock box, then move the key someplace else. That way in the event of an attempt there is time to think about what you are doing.

If you have possible mental problems and suicidal tendencies, you probably shouldn't have any guns.

I have one, a two shot .38 special derringer.

Do as I say, not as I do.

See here is why I disagree. Mental health is a disease  like cancer or diabetes. Those people are allowed to own a fire arm. Its my constitutional right to own a fire arm. No one can take that away from me. Euthanasia is legal in other countries. In essence you are saying someone else gets to decide someone's fate. Time to wake up America. Most people with mental health are not homicidal anyways.

I have a .38 snub but I keep it locked away because sometimes I think about blowing my brains out when I get depressed. That's not a meme response either.

If someone's going to bust in my house I have plenty of clubs and blunt objects around specifically for this purpose. Baseball bat, axe handle, some really big sticks my dad cut off bois d'arc trees, a hickory stick, dumbbell, a small piece of iron that I found in a field at college after they knocked an old building down... I'm ready to cave an intruder's skull in.

Nice, benelli makes some quality stuff. Is it the semi auto one?

I'm a big fan of the Remington 870s. Especially now that they have the Remington 870 DM.

I have a few.

I was at the outdoor shop last week and saw they are selling an MP5 for $2500. Which I feel was a convenient price point to target tax refund rich season... *pew* *pew*

It stops me; I've put my family through enough. If I don't die of natural causes, I want to leave them a tidy corpse.

I thought you were speaking legally.

If you are stopping yourself from it for reasons like that, then good on ya.
