What was the first RPG you played?

Super Mario RPG. Had no idea what an RPG was and rented it from Blockbuster, because Mario. I had no idea what I was doing since I started on someone else's save file which was in Land's End with the whirlpools. Eventually I figured out to start a new game and really got into it from there.

Earthbound. I was way too young when I rented it from the video store and I had no idea at all what I was doing. Years later I played the Sailor Moon RPG and the Super Mario RPG on an emulator and fell in love.

Super Mario RPG was the first one that I played, but the first one I beat was The Legend of Dragoon.

Dragon Warrior II, way back on the NES.  Wound up getting all four Dragon Warrior games on the NES at garage sales when I was a kid.  Picked up a copy of Final Fantasy too.  I never beat the games, because I didn't have the patience to grind out levels and I wound up advancing too far and getting stuck.  First RPG that I actually played through and beat was Chrono Trigger on SNES.

Final Fantasy VII. I believe I played the demo and then a few more years after, I bought the game. I also played the demo for Legend of Dragoon, but VII was the first one I had a full copy of.
