wacky1980 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 i think it's actually two audio files: one which obv states "laurel" in a lower register, and another that says whatever it says in a higher register. someone on tweeter analyzed the audio file and found markers that indicate two distinct voices. personally, i first heard something (not yanny but a word said in a shitty, fake nasally voice), but after tweaking the eq a bit, i can clearly hear laurel. this was done on purpose by someone to fuck with our minds. 1

NY Times has this nifty page with a slider, and We had to go about two thirds towards Yanny before We could hear it, and now if We try really hard We can pick it out on the original. Which is pretty pointless because regardless of what one hears, it's actually just saying Laurel. 1

For the longest time I heard yanny...but if I close my eyes and focus more on the low tones of yanny, it slowly shifts to a deeper voice that says laurel.... auditory illusion is wonderfully amusing....
