If the preborn babies are so important ... wouldn't that mean that the post born babies are equally important and we should be funding all the efforts to make sure the post born babies have formula so they dont die ... or

Claim them as dependents at 6 weeks… great point I heard the other day

Conservatives need to get nutrition somehow and they can't legally kill the mom [yet] to get the fetus, so starving the baby is the only option.

They say baby is like veal. The more forced the pregnancy the more life force is gained once the conservative consumes it.

Between the one state legislator’s witness  that thinks some parts of the country gets its electricity from aborted fetuses and the other guy asking a doctor about abortions performed minutes before birth (never happens btw) it’s very clear they have zero business making healthcare decisions for anyone.  Fuckin dummies in office all over the country. It’s fuckin pathetic

She’s just creating outrage porn.  I doubt she actually believes it, but she knows damn well stupid people in this country absolutely will.  They know the majority of Americans want safe, legal abortion access of some sort. They need to create outrage based off absolute fallacies to try and change people’s minds.

here’s the article about the exchange between a rep from LA and a doctor

bill Cassidy says, “…. Maternal mortality rates are only bad if you count black women…”

nothing at all to see here folks, move along.

Wow they say this shit and aren’t even embarrassed by it.  He also basically said considering the mother’s health and people dying during childbirth as a dumb reason to consider keeping abortion legal.

It can’t be stressed enough how unqualified these people are to make decisions on appropriate healthcare.  Especially not when they’re so willing to ignore the deaths of Black people, and act like they have no idea why they’re up to 4 times more likely to die during pregnancy than their white counterparts

Republicans  want to draft a “women’s bill of rights” to protect us from transgender females in sports and to make sure the word “woman” isn’t erased. 🙄 how about trying to not treat us like incubators like we asked instead of drafting hate legislation

i can say, i pulled a republican ballot ONLY to vote for a particular local official.

and to answer a couple of the questions. this being one of them 'should trans boys be allowed to participate in girls sports?'
mind you not trans girls in boys sports.

anyway, it was a series of some very interesting questions.

“Trans boys” see that would have confused me cuz I’d be like “no they should play with the boys if they want to” 😬

Should prolly be trying to protect us from themselves first.

I do not feel threatened in the slightest about how the word woman is used. Knock yourself out. Way more concerned about not being able to make my own medical decisions

As a man I regret to inform you that your real fear is if the woman taking a dump in the stall next to you has a penis or not.

Perhaps the goal all along was to outlaw abortion so there are enough replacements when the mass school shootings, wildfire apocalypses, cat 5 hurricane trainss, and maskless pandemic political conventions inevitably cull the great white herd.

It’s an excuse to get into Brown people’s houses that live near the southern border, and to stop their cars.  We can almost guarantee that people near the northern border don’t have much to worry about….YET.

Maybe it’s always been but laws in the south west brought this into question cuz they were stopping people they thought looked “Mexican” because of hairstyles and skin color.

They never really needed an excuse before.  Reminds me of this movie we watched when I was still in HS, El Norte.  The third act is all about how ICE is an implement for petty rivalries.

Funny, that and Heavy Metal are the two things that seemed to fuck with me the most....

Yeah, I swear I've heard about this exact thing, with this exact map, years ago. Idk. Maybe it was something that didn't make it through before but did now or something. But, my brain could just also be making shit up...

They’ve always been allowed to do this within 100 miles from the border. This ruling happened because someone that owned a bed and breakfast near the Canadian border was asked by agents about their guests.  The bb owner explained an employee was picking up some guests from Turkey. Well that’s all it took for the employee to be followed and stopped once the guests were in the vehicle. I’m actually surprised this happened at the norther border

apparently this SCOTUS doesn’t think we have rights and says that Congress has to write them into law. It’s qualified immunity for feds.

It's actually getting semi-stupid up here too but you aren't as likely to hear about it because white people busted trafficking in both humans and fentanyl isn't as cool a sound byte for the local republican politicians.

That and pots. Lots and lots of pots.

I remember the Daily Show segment a long (ass fucking) time ago where John Oliver went to...Maine(?) and saw that part of the US-Canada border was literally just some old wooden fence.

My first job was in Malone, NY,which is about 11 miles south of the border. I had a friend who lived a little out of town whose back yard backed up to the border; the only thing between her and Canada was a low hedge.

Back in I think my senior year, some classmates hopped in one of their cars to go to some barnparty a couple of towns away. They kept driving along the backroad that they thought was the right one and didn't realize they were in Canada until someone stopped to check a sign and it was in either German or Russian. :| And they managed to get back to town without passing an official anything or anyone.

[ and before anyone yells 'canada is french!', there are spots where settlers settled that are their own main language; I once spent a weekend in an area where the main language was Finnish followed by passable English ]

just read this, and it's complete bullshit. most if not all religious schools are private.

now, any school that is already decaying and gets hardly any funding (looking at detroit, et al) can forget it.

this is absolute bullshit imo.

That's the point.
