What's the worst thing to have on the TV at the bar?

My vote is for sports radio shows. It's already fucking dumb that sports radio shows are on TV at all. But at the bar, with the volume down, and subtitles turned on (and about eight seconds behind because it's live) is as bad as it gets for me.

I didn't have an answer (as somebody who has worked in a bar and used to frequently go out) until I read your answer. It would probably be this.

It funny because the most fun I've had in a while was dead ass shitfaced, watching faux News with the sound on mute at an Applebee's... I was like "is this ticker trolling me.... Man's truck catches fire when lit cigarette ignites leaves in back"

All I can think was how many gud ol boys were like " *spits in MTN dew bottle* hate when that happens"

Who said they were at the bar... You be reaching, man.

I was at the bar at Applebee's just staring at a tv. The gud ol boys could have been anywhere and nothing in my post Implies otherwise.

But for the record, people can bring their spit bottles into bars... No one is drinking out of it. It's for spit.

Well excuse me for thinking you were posting on topic. :P

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't think any restaurant of any kind, would allow any outside drink container, even an empty one (except of spit), even at the most red-neck of red-neck hillbilly regions.

EDIT: Oh you said they can do that, like you know for a fact they can... well regional differences I guess. You sure as fuck can't do that anywhere in this state.

I was posting on topic. I was talking about what was on TV at a bar in response to Jingo.

I have to admire Pat Robertson's tenacity in regards to all the attempts to buy him out of that seemingly eternal contract for the 700 Club to air on whatever network CBN used to be. The last amount I heard he was offered was $42 million.

I actually was not at all talking about "you can't chew tobacco in here due to legal regulations." I was talking about "You can't bring outside food and drink in here because we want you to buy all of your food and drink from us when you are in our building."

But why so you assume that's not what he meant as well. No one used the words chewing tobacco until right now.

I'm pretty sure it's not against the law to bring outside food or drink into a bar, restaurant, etc. Like, anywhere.

"you sure as fuck can't do that anywhere in this state" doesn't imply internal company policy re: foreign food/bev, but it DOES imply there's some health/sanitation/liquor code in place, or in other words, a legal restriction. Should I no longer take your own words at face value?

What I was trying to imply (and apparently failed) was that no where near enough people in this state chew tobacco where literally any establishment that sells food and or drink would allow someone to bring in their own open beverage bottle, even just for spitting in.

Tv

Pool table

Why would you bump an alcohol-related thread?

The very best bar I ever patronized didn't have any of that.  People spoke to each other instead.

Been in both, enjoyed both.  O'Rourke's (long since closed) in Chicago, had a great discussion with a Black Gentleman about politics.  We disagreed on many things, but it was very thought provoking and we shook hands afterward as he left.

CJ's in Batavia, IL, it was a biker bar and always had a line of Harley's out front.  Walking distance from a friend's place and nicer people than the place a couple blocks away where everyone stared at the "strangers in the bar".  Ever walk into a place and everyone goes quiet, that was the other bar.  CJs had Cricket & Pinball & Pool tables, none of the bikers gave us any grief.

That doesn't answer my question: WHY are you thinking about alcohol related things?
