There is no way it only takes 14 hours to no longer be impoverished in Japan on minimum wage. It is however interesting how affordable Tokyo has become compared to the average American city when just ten years ago it was one of the most expensive cities in the world.

It also says “receiving benefits” idk what kind of social programs they have in Japan but that still sounds low.

Whats probably so fun with the shutdown trap is just how obvious it is. This isnt that dumb 4D chess crap that Trump says, its as obvious a trap as you can get.

Its easy to see whats going to happen when Democrats spring it as well. Trumps going to use his megaphone to blame them, but shortly after that DOGE and others will call out how "Essential" Gov employees still have to go to work. Which will lead to the obvious question being asked "Why are there non-essential government employees?" From there its a pretty straight line to working on eliminating any government employee who isnt "essential". Thus reducing the size of government, and virtually eliminating entire departments.

If Democrats wernt so blinded by pure rage and hate they would be able to see this. Fetterman does, but the rest of the party is too blinded by hate and rage to see the trap they are walking into.

The obvious out for Democrats is to start to throw a ton of amendments at the bill, have them all shot down, then vote to advance it anyways while saying "we tried". Gives them something without teeing up brutal attack adds for next year in swing state races, which Democrats now have quite a few they need to defend.

Or, the other option, is that Trump simply lets the Government stay shutdown for months. Gov employees will eventually  quit when they arent getting paid, and the entire bureaucracy would collapse in on itself. Essential employees have to show up and work, but they dont get paid. People can only do that for so long before the bills come do and they may need to change jobs.

So, is this what you kids call a nothingburger?

The Senate isn’t going to filibuster this, and Democrats aren’t going to vote for it except for Fetterman and any Senator from a red state.  Don’t you feel dumb fingering yourself for nothing?

U.S. citizen child recovering from brain cancer deported to Mexico with undocumented parents

Other than lacking “valid immigration status in the U.S.,” the parents have “no criminal history,” Woodward said.

But of course. Every time you think we can't sink to a new low... Badda boom! There ya go. Anyone remember a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away when we still had this magical little thing called compassion?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Yeah, I didn't think so.

There are literally videos from right wing leaders decrying compassion as an obstacle to progressing their interests and viewing empathy as a sin.

it's weird, someone in your position, can't seem to grasp the adjectives you are using, and yet....that is exactly what you have to look forward to...from your own party.

this is YOUR trumptopia. your muskville. YOU asked for this.

this is nothing to celebrate, and  it's so woefully obvious how YOU people pick HOW you want to see the way the words are being used.

you simple carbon based life form. you don't win. they don't win. this is not a win situation...this is an absolute lose situation.

go to your senior center...put that energy to helping them understand they may lose the very bed they occupy, the only sanctuary left on this blue rock.

stop being such a hypocrite.  you are no longer hidden in the safety of keyboard warrior.

they know

This should hopefully do something about your horrifying case of constipation of the brain / diarrhea of the keyboard.

It doesn't matter how lengthy the response someone types up to one of your copypastas from a toadhole, you should know you aren't 'owning a lib' or 'triggering' anyone. Pretty much everyone here I can all but 100% guarantee can whip out a response calling you out for posting complete garbage without hurting a single brain cell in the process.

Case in point, I'm literally typing this up with a single hand while keeping the kitten occupied with a wand toy because she's got storm energy right now and just realized she's too big to fit into a sephora bag.

Didn't even take 24 hours from my post for Democrats to cave.

And it sounds like its following the exact off ramp that I laid out as well. Thune let Schumer know they will bring up a vote on the Democrat bill. Once that is voted down, Democrats will support the GOP CR, itll pass, and the government will stay open.

Will be interesting to see how the actual vote tomorrow goes, but all signs point to it passing.

The bill includes huge cuts to medicaid, and this will definitely cause many rural hospitals to close. I say what the fuck ever. We all are gonna suffer, but let the red areas rapidly accelerate into third world shitholes they were always destined to become. They can blame whoever the fuck they want. Much of the world is watching this shit unfold and can see the truth themselves. In this globalized world, you either adapt or get left behind. American exceptionalism is not gonna cut it anymore. Time is too precious and limited to waste on stubborn morons.
