Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

I'm trying to remember if it was here or somewhere else where I saw someone say Elon Musk literally wasn't...at least outwardly like this until Grimes left him for a woman.

He didn’t build his Incel army by being an understanding guy.  At best , Grimes leaving him was more a canary in the mine than a catalyst for his destructive behavior.

For the record, they've also made it so you can't even view the site without having an account.

Bastion of free speech and self-proclaimed town square indeed.

Also, what's with all the "we" shit from Musk? Didn't he already pass it on to another CEO?

Thinking it’s about time I just do the sensible thing and delete + deactivate the shit for good.

I really only kept the app this long in the first place as a dumb courtesy for others. It was awful the moment I signed up, but Jesus Christ.

Apparently it’s the ultimate move to take something and purposely make it shittier and shittier to where it’s a punishment even for those that rarely want to use it at all.

You couldn't pay me enough to make an account, so bye Felicia I guess.

I've been banned and under appeal since end of May for calling a MAGAt a skank-sniffer and lemming for following me around defending MTG's latest bs [ which at the time was probably another anti-trans tirade ].

I'm thinking of sending them a bill for wasting my time while continuing to promote and protect actual assholes.

Hey @Raptorpat, you think this site could do with some Husk money? :D:D:D

Is anyone going to switch to Threads as a Twitter alternative? Zuckerberg seems significantly less evil than Musk.

Mark's shit is just as awful. Totally policed by bots that lack the ability to decipher context.

Literally said I was trying to kill a fever and I got a ban for promoting violent acts or some shit.

It's all terrible and I need to find a way to Neo myself out of this shit.

Edit: I should point out I'm talking about FB...I haven't bothered with threads despite their begging me to join while I'm currently on a ban for calling zuck and Elon pussies....but I get that ban. Can't hurt billionaire egos.

Hot damn, only just now discovering I can highlight text and just quote selected text, instead of quoting and removing bits. Site's fancier than I thought..

Anyway. Sounds like at this pace, Threads may be the inevitable top contender. If it's already outpacing competition, nobody else is in any position to swoop in. All the others that presented themselves seem to have never caught enough momentum to scoop up enough users, and will likely all keep a core niche following while dying a slow death like Google+.

Feels like it's just for show. I don't see how Meta would be at fault unless they hired people for the express purpose of "stealing" trade secrets. I would think that any ex Twitter employees would know if they were contractually unable to use what they learned while working there.

The only thing I would expect is non-compete stuff, which I guess they didn't have, or else it'd be all over the place.

Isn’t Musk poised to sue Meta though cuz he did send a cease and desist or some  shit claiming Zuck was given trade secrets by former Twitter employees. I guess Musk thought they’d never work anywhere else once he fired them? Idk.

If he actually had a case for that, he would have gone after BlueSky immediately because that's literally Twitter without the Hitlers by the guy who made Twitter.

Threads is getting faster traction because it already has a massive collection of people via Instagram already.

Yeah that’s why Musk is so ascared because Threads is real competition especially after Musk limited the number of tweets you can read, even if you pay for it but one of his specific complaints was the number of former Twitter employees that work for Zuck now.

Well, maybe if he hadn't demanded everyone return to the office to work while cutting all the in-house benefits to working in the office and then turning around and failing to pay the bills on said office after forcing all the employees to compete Hunger Games style for his approval/a paycheck, he'd still have employees.

All that and firing anyone who actually knew what they were doing and might dare to tell the big-brain baby to not lick the outlets.

Besides, he can't exactly claim that Twitter has 'secrets' - he was the one posting large chunks of code publicly trying to get people to do the work for free when he kept breaking things because he DOESN'T know what he's doing. He reminds me of an old high school teacher who thought he was hot crap because he was the first in the area to have a computer at home and that qualified him to teach computing. I didn't have a computer, I had an old typewriter. And I also managed to figure out how to write a code that locked his ass out of my practice floppy disc.
