Fox News is firmly sided with the MAGA crowd. There's a reason all the neocon incumbents are getting voted out.

That so?  https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/07/25/rupert-murdoch-donald-trump-splitsville-00047748  There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that Fox News is less interested in sucking up MAGA and more interested in playing off it to maintain its place at the top of the conservative news world.  Someone like Cheney fits perfectly into it because she can be held up as an example of the "virtuous" conservative all while adhering to the fundamentals of the conservative platform.

Yes, populism certainly translates to wins for primaries; it also has translated into a historic slate of bad candidates.  That should be fair indication that MAGA isn't the dominant voice of the GOP, just as it isn't an analog for the conservative platform, which hasn't actually changed.

If they do well in the primaries, which they very well could, it could upset the whole balance between neocons and MAGA candidates. Logically, the MAGA folks could very well be soundly defeated but then again we said that about Trump.

Liz Cheney does not have the backing of the GOP leadership anymore. They won't say it out loud but they did not support her against her challenger. Fox News is catering to all gamuts of GOP voters and it's safer to just ostracize and ignore Cheney rather than put her on and risk pissing off the MAGA voters. Tucker Carlson is actively spouting MAGA nonsense and Fox ain't going to take him off the air.

Murdoch is in the same dilemma as the GOP leadership. They want to keep the traditional neocon base and the crazies.

Murdoch doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself.  The point is that he knows that the MAGA movement is a dead end:  as soon as Trump is in jail or mysteriously floating face down in the Mar-A-Lago pool, the movement is done.  Until then, his instincts tell him to hedge his bets, both by keeping the MAGAtards happy with Scumbag Carlson and playing up to the rest of the closet conservatives with "moderate" voices.

You can't act like MAGA is an perpetual movement - it has no substance of its own outside of the Trump Cult of Personality.  He's the only one that can hold together an assortment of white nationalists, evangelicals, conspiracy theorists, etc.  DeSantis, inept buffoon that he is, doesn't have the same charisma that makes Trump so unifying and dangerous.

I hope so. I don't think MAGA is going away anytime soon at least while Trump is alive.

Fortunately for us, Trump is a generational talent in all the worst arts.  Unfortunately for us, ridding ourselves of Trump and MAGA merely assuages the very worst tendencies of our base nature.  It does nothing to deal with the real problem of conservatism:  too many people still buy into the concept of Randian Objectivism, and all of the horror that entails when mixed with closet greed and intolerance.

"Democrats want Republicans dead and they have already started the killings" - MTG

No information has been discovered that proves there was any sort of political discussion between the two at this time.

Honestly, the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if the dude charged with murder [ for doing something your side has openly advocated -and- practiced ] is republican leaning who killed someone with his car and then decided to make it a weird political thing just to rile up the same people who are normally fine with such behaviors as long as they are the ones choosing the targets. :| Murder a Gay? Woman? Person of Any Color Not White? GOP is A-Okay with all that. Murder a 'Conservative' ? Worst thing in the world! This is all the fault of the current President and something should be done about him [ while completely forgetting about all the incendiary shit spouted by the previous administration ] !

This wanna-twitter smells weird.

The idiot cadence is off, I don't know quite how, but I don't think he was the one to actually thumb-twiddle this. He might have been screaming about it in the background but it's off.

https://www.lex18.com/news/decison-2022/sen-rand-paul-declines-to-debate-charles-booker-in-u-s-senate-race

Rand Paul ghosted on a debate he was supposed to attend. When questioned he said he was afraid of political violence occurring.

Quote

"I think that debates should involve civility and should involve parties that are actually willing to address questions," said Paul. "And I think that there's been a certain tenor, so far, that really involves more accepting of political violence - that I think worries me and makes me concerned."

I've heard it referred to as "the angry black man" excuse.

The midterms are becoming a display of "how much shit are GOP voters willing to swallow to retake Congress"

"Abbot made abortion illegal in Texas? I mean it's a small sacrifice for state rights???"

"Herschel Walker paid for abortions and abandoned his family? Uh he won a Heisman Award so"

"Dr. Oz experimented on puppies? I mean we really need to protect the children so...."

i suppose there’s some hope on PA as Oz was pretty much always trailing in the polls unlike Walker and the other lunatics

Walker is a lot more digestible because Georgia is a solid swing that could go to either candidate just based on traditional party loyalties.

The polls have tightened recently, and Oz and his PACs are running a metric fuckton of attack ads on Fetterman at the moment. Unfortunately he's not going anywhere just yet.

I think both are dangerous for different reasons but Walker imo is a ticking CTE time bomb and he’s consistently leading against Warnock.  Idt Oz is gonna win but unless people wtf up Walker will win and just do whatever he’s told to do.

Why?  Because he hasn't gone full OJ Simpson yet?  Like it or not, that's the direction he's headed.

Dr. Oz does strike me as the type to write a memoir about how he would've done it if he really abused the dogs to prove his innocence.
