I'm still more concerned that I have NEVER come across another "Disney" in all my life....Did he retire the name like a basketball jersey.

Looking at wikipedia, I may have a possible explanation. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_family:

Quote

The family name, originally d'Isigny ("from Isigny"), is of Norman French derivation, coming from the town of Isigny-sur-Mer. The Disneys, among others, descended from Normans who settled in Ireland around the 11th century.[1]

I'm thinking possibly that the family changed their name to Disney on Ellis Island, while everyone else in the world with the name d'Isigny either kept the original spelling or changed it to something else.

I think he had daughters and they either hyphenated their names or took their husband's

which I think is stupid

If my last name is Disney, you're taking my last name. Who the fuck downgrades to like Smith or Johnson. YOU WILL KNOW I AM ROYALTY

Abigail is the only Disney family member I’ve heard from recently by virtue of finding news stories where she criticized Disneyland’s work conditions and Bob Iger’s paycheck.

You hear of the others on occasion, but, for the most part, they're not too big on publicity.
