Heatwave(s) 2025

It usually takes me about an hour to mow the entire front & back, including string trimming & using the leaf blower to clear the sidewalks.  I got the front done & it was all I could do to drag my ass back into the house.  I'm spent.  If you have to go out in this heat, be very careful,  Right now, it says it's 90F but feels like 99F with Central FL humidity.

Thursday was the beginning of the high heat etc. so we put in the window ACs, then Friday was mid 70s/high wind - the perfect weather to open every window in the house to get a nice crossbreeze going and take a nap. Now we're back to the heatwave into next week.

Plate umpire just left the Cubs/Mariners game.  102F "feels like" on the field about 1.5 hrs ago, lots of empty seats.  Fly balls getting a 12ft boost to center with a slight crosswind, making for some adventures in flyball fielding.

The kitten wanted to go out for a walk so bad all week long. Day off on Friday, slap the harness on her and out the door we go. She stepped out, sniffed the air and noped right back inside. Even sunbeam babby wasn't going to bother. 

It's supposed to be 100'F with humidity tomorrow.

My central AC unit broke this evening. Luckily, I live in Atlanta, known for how cool it is (little known fact, its nickname is Coolanta).

 

Thank everything we do own window units. This past month has been the greatest example of “when it rains, it pours” when it comes to home repairs…

When we went to Florida to visit my grandparents, my uncle was working nearby them at Sea World for ABC productions.  They put him up in an on-site apt. that had no a/c, just a "swamp cooler".  I think they're called "swamp cooler" because it made the place as cool as a swamp at the height of summer.

Yeah... summer!  Finally... it's about friggin' time!  I was seriously getting tired of those cloudy, fifty three degree days, stretching into the first week of June.  I really was starting to think summer wouldn't start this year.  I can do my outdoor cooking now.

I don't think any lexicon has need for a word like "heatwave" anymore since the word "summer" is pretty much synonymous. Especially when you live in hell...or Texas. Summer lasts until winter begins.. This season has been uncharacteristically wet, and I was initially excited about that because here summer precipitation usually comes in the form of severe thunderstorms that accompany cold fronts that feel orgasmic. These storms have sucked though they're just dropping buckets of rain leaving us with swamp ass and boiling humidity... BUT....On a positive note it's always the season to play this banger.
