Hey an update on the flag situation along my jogging route:

there’s no more trump flags at all. Not one. 2 fuck Biden flags are still up. And one is imposing itself quite hilariously…

but first… it should be noted that a house is flying the LGBT 🏳️‍🌈 flag now. I never saw that in this neighborhood before. And… one of the “fuck Biden” Biden flags is by the neighbor of the LGBT flag flyer. They planted it right on the property line as close to the LGBT house as possible 😝 so petty

i also want to say that one of the Trump flags has been replaced w/an American flag. And that I appreciate

There is only one house near me that still has Trump campaign signs up lol. Not sure if they're like he's still the president to me damnit or if they're just looking ahead to 2024 at this point.

Here's some scenes from around my neighborhood

I saw a “TRUMP WILL BE BACK 2024” on a house that was still waving a 2020 flag for most of last year off of the “big lie” rationale.

On one hand, at least they finally conceded defeat and reached the copium stage one year after Jan 6.

On the other hand, they’re not even hiding that the end goal of having another republican president is solely based on getting revenge on everyone who voted against him. No policy or vision; just pure spite.

Democratic operatives say Hillary Clinton is 'best option' for party to win 2024 election

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/democratic-operatives-say-hillary-clinton-is-best-option-for-party-to-win-2024-election

"Clinton "is already in an advantageous position to become the 2024 Democratic nominee. She is an experienced national figure who is younger than Mr. Biden and can offer a different approach from the disorganized and unpopular one the party is currently taking," they wrote.

"If Democrats lose control of Congress in 2022, Mrs. Clinton can use the party’s loss as a basis to run for president again, enabling her to claim the title of 'change candidate,'" the pair added.

Clinton, the wife of former President Bill Clinton, has served as a U.S. senator and secretary of state. She made history in 2016 when she became the first woman to represent a major party in a U.S. presidential election. However, Clinton lost that contest to Donald Trump, who is flirting with another run himself."

Its like Democrats want to hand everything back to the GOP or something. In no sane world is Hillary Clinton the best option for Democrats in 2024.  Their bench may be extremely weak, but Hillary just isnt the answer.

The original was Wall Street Journal, but thats pay walled. So this was the news site that had it not in a paywall.

Also, from Chris Cillizza on CNN:

Before we go any further, it's worth noting that neither Schoen nor Stein have sterling credentials as Democrats. Schoen worked for former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg while Stein endorsed none other than Donald Trump in the 2016 election against, wait for it, Hillary Clinton.

So... a big fucking troll.

SCOTUS is starting to announce rulings, one potential ruling is on the Vaccine Mandate.

Buuuttttt it wont come today. SCOTUSBlog is saying that they issued a single ruling on Social Security and that's it for today. We will have to wait at least one more day for the other rulings.

Or not.

SCOTUS rules that OSHA does not have the authority to mandate vaccines to employers. It did however allow the vaccine mandates to continue for federally funded hospitals and healthcare facilities.

This was the most likely outcome, and the one that does seem the most grounded in law.  The Feds have always had the power to issue mandates for things that fall under their umbrella, but they do not have the power to mandate things for all businesses. That requires a law to be passed by Congress.

Almost everything is the same as if Trump and the Republicans won in 2020.

And soon they will win again. And it will still be the same.

And that is why it is time to give up on the Democratic party which will never be anything else but this right-wing rich capitalist class who wants nothing to do with you or what you care about, as we are seeing now. Just failure and fakery from them, all the time. Right to your face. No actual input is ever accepted, any attempt will only invoke more patronizing lies.

They are always going to lose every time anyway. Even when they're in power

It's obviously intentional, and most people are rather myopic after election cycles. This party politic bullshit is nothing but a farce by plutocrats. If Democrats went back to their pro-Labor days, they'd always hold at least the House again. Clearly, that's not wanted anymore.

Oh well. It really won't surprise me if Biden is considered worse than Trump in the end. Trump was more a symptom than he was a cause. Biden is . . . just not Trump. Wow. 🙃

This is why I recommend you join le reddit: more people are starting to realize all of this.

Let's see, Trump was an impulsive and incompetent president whose unpredictability and fawning (as well as sucking up) up to authoritarians like Kim, Putin and Xi damaged the U.S.'s stature in the world. Plus, his inability to comprehend how free trade works wound up damaging American manufacturing even more in the long term.

Not to mention that Trump continuously attacked people for trying to avoid the COVID-19 virus because small crowds made him sad.

What did Biden do that was so bad? Oh, right, he can't be a dictator and ram through every little demand internet leftists want. It's so sad that we have elected officials representing constituents whose desires don't align with ours.

Purists are never happy. They were the sort who wanted the ACA to fail because they didn't get everything they wanted. Some things never change.

I'm not a purist. Let's see . . .

Biden promised a 2000 dollar check, but then was like lol, you already got 600 dollars. Biden was saying every death by covid was a tragedy and Trump was directly responsible for all of them. Biden said he would forgive student loans to an extent. Now, all he's doing is pushing back when the repayments will start. And yet, most PPP loans that are asking to be forgiven are granted under his administration.

Also, inflation is the worst it's ever been. But no, we can't blame Biden for that, even though if Trump were still president you'd be fine completely blaming him.

Let's see what Snopes has to say:

Quote

What's True

At several times in the lead-up to the Jan. 5, 2021, Georgia Senate runoff election, Biden, Ossoff, and Warnock promised that the latter's election would result in $2,000 per person stimulus checks. On Jan. 20, Biden unveiled a plan that included $1,400 checks. Biden's plan took longer to reveal than promised during the campaign, and has yet to be signed into law.

What's False

However, these promises were always made in the context of legislation blocked by the Senate in late December that attempted to raise the per person payment from $600 to $2,000. Because $600 checks were already being distributed by the time Biden and the others entered office, the addition of $1,400 would fulfill the campaign promise of $2,000 per person COVID-19 stimulus payments.

Since the tin foil brigade thinks Snopes is in league with Satanic Jews, here's another fact check from Newsweek:

Quote

In a speech during a rally in Atlanta, Biden urged voters to back the Democratic candidates in order to "end to the block in Washington on that $2,000 stimulus check."

Congress had blocked attempts to pass $2,000 checks. Democrats had pushed for the payments at the end of 2020, however their attempts were thwarted by Republicans.

Lawmakers eventually settled on the $600 sum in December. At the time, Biden insisted that sum was only a "down payment" and he planned to ask Congress to pass another bill including a new round of stimulus checks—the value of which would be negotiated.

Also, inflation is the worst it's ever been. But no, we can't blame Biden for that, even though if Trump were still president you'd be fine completely blaming him.

Trump had the unique ability to make things even worse than they already were. No president has been so uniquely incompetent. What would Trump's answer to inflation be? Blaming China? Yelling at Canada and Mexico? The guy is unwilling to accept any responsibility for anything. For him, the "buck gets passed on to someone else" when things don't go as planned. But yeah, go ahead and tell me how Biden is "just as bad."
