Sold my car to Pick n Pull (since it wouldn't pass inspection and I got a new one). Realized on my way home that I left my iPod in the car. But I sold at close to closing time, lot was already locked. Told nothing should happen to it, come back tomorrow. Lot's still locked (I guess not open on Sundays or whatever maybe), but they at least go out to check my car (cuz apparently I'm not allowed to see it myself on a locked lot). They manage to bring me the adapter cord it should've been plugged into, but no iPod. Extra kicker, the Nanos are discontinued, so I couldn't replace it if I wanted to. Idk what I hate, specifically. Life in general, I guess. Anyone know if pawn shops are required to sit on anything brought in before they can put them up for sale? I don't know if I can even actually report the item as stolen. Might not even be getting pawned off.

Oh. Yes. In that regard, not so great. But that's just a tangent to the larger symptom of this show not really having a core storyline anymore. Personally, while I can sorta turn my brain off and enjoy this to some extent, there's always part of me that really finds the whole chimera ant concept to be absurd. Unless it's some magical new species, I can't really suspend disbelief that these wouldn't have dominated ages ago. And since they were established as some sort of known problem, it just doesn't make sense to me that it's never escalated to this point before. If it has, it seems like something that, without just the right people and circumstances in place, they could easily get established enough that eradication may be nigh impossible. I mean, isn't the whole reason they're attacking now because if King feeds, he'll be potentially unstoppable, right?

Newcomer? They did bring up the old man a good while back. I had actually been wondering recently what he was still up to with the meditation thing. A bit disappointed the others weren't including him as part of their plan. Evidently he knew exactly when to kick things off.

I mean, the whole "this is a story about growing up" thing was maybe kinda too heavy handed here. Still hoping somewhere along the way we get some actual motive from Haruko. And that it's more than "I was just here to bring out your full potential all along" or something. She always has her own angle. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the characters.

I bet they scout the area to look for the flimsiest plants/trees to get in shot, to make the wind look all the more dramatic. Maybe it's just a case of weather people get way too excited for any inclement weather, while the rest of us just say "Eh, it's a little wet and windy out, but it's no worse than any other big thunderstorm."

3 pm sounds like heaven. The lawn care service for the development I used to live in mowed in the am. Fuck that noise. Lawns are an abomination anyway. Let that shit go wild, reintroduce native species. Support the ecosystem. But mostly just quit with the noise while people are sleeping.

Yeah, and I'm telling you, it should be "oop." Where the fuck did these fuckwits get the idea that "ope" gets a long o sound? Nope. Rope. Dope. Slope. (hey, remember when that was a censored word, lol). "Ope" as presented doesn't follow established expectations. I see "ope" and it sounds like the end of all those other words. It sure as hell doesn't sound like "oop," which is the word/noise in question.

Idk how familiar you are with your coastal bathymetry, but there's a neat little feature called the Charleston Bump, a shelf that kinda just juts out into the Gulf Stream right off of SC. It's what commonly assists with the seemingly serendipitous curves hurricanes make on approach to the area, with the sudden change of depth, the GS kicking out to open water, etc.

I don't keep track of these ever since I moved off the east coast. But my experience was, unless you're within a pretty close range to the eye wall, it's nothing to get too worked up over. With some other extra factors to consider, like size of the wind field, surge, if you're actually on the coast, how fast it's moving, which could determine how much rain sits on you causing flooding, etc.

Disagree. This was a pretty solid episode. Established characters well enough that you really feel their friendship. It felt pretty natural. My only real complaint is not understanding why MM sent the robot. It wasn't even the usual Haruko trying to pull something through, it just kinda dropped in for no reason. I'll hold out hope that future episodes may come to explain, in some way, why that is.

This show really only seems to work with the short gag skits. The long form shit really just weakens everything.
