  1. They're all basically for profit anyway; you'd think as long as you can pay, they'd let you in.
  2. Lol, nah. Those can all be vaguely related, to some approximate degree. But for the level of precision some of the latest science expects, you need some proper constants. Used to be a collection of objects, all kept in France, that defined various units, with some sister prototypes scattered around the world, which would all have to be checked and rechecked periodically to see if they're changing at all (they did), and recalibrate things based on that. It was a simpler time.

  5. That's basically sleeping.
  6. Geez. I have to shave daily or the neck stubble starts getting really irritating on the second day, and I'm sure if I went any longer than that, I'd need to start using a trimmer or something bigger than a razor.
  7. I can't read Japanese, but those numbers sure look like they're suggesting a 3 kilometer structure. Japan, you crazy.
  8. I've always been pretty tough to sucker into promotions like that. Like, "Buy 3 for this price point!" But, I don't need 3 of those, and if I just buy the 1 or 2 I need, I'm saving more money (in the short term, I guess). I recognize a lot of it is also designed just to move more product, keep inventory flowing. Marketing is one hell of an industry.
  9. That's kinda sad. I probably have more stubble if I go 2 days without shaving. Tbh, tho, kinda wish it didn't grow in quite so well. You probably save a lot more time/money on shaving.
  10. Article Linkage From what I've read, it sounds like they've had to round off or fudge a couple other numbers to do so. (the Planck constant, elementary charge, Boltzmann constant, and the Avogadro constant). Which, while those were all known to a pretty high decimal count, hadn't previously been strictly defined as constant. And, it hurts my soul a little that they've had to settle on redefining them for the sake of nailing down the kilogram. Seems kinda like scientists just got fed up with the whole problem and said fuck it, we'll settle. Not that I could really blame them, I suppose. I'm sure there aren't many here that will find this very fascinating. The only real reason it piqued my interest was that I had peeked in on the kilogram conundrum once or twice in the past. Congrats, Science, for finally figuring out how much a kilogram is.
  11. They'll probably keep putting into like newspapers and background television shots, I'll wager.
  12. Reynolds seems more the type to just be on board with any stupid hilarious idea. I can picture him saying "This looks awful and amazing and I love it, I'm in."
  13. I'm not really sure if I want it to be decent or a disaster. I'm not really invested in this either way. Just can't tell if this should be hilariously bad or astoundingly well done.
  14. At least they're faithful to the source material. I went into that trailer expecting some fan made There Will Be Brawl type of thing. Still not sure I've grasped that it's going to be real.
  15. Does this call for an "Excelsior"?
  16. Wait, that isn't a fan made trailer mashup or something? Like, I went into that expecting something on the level of There Will Be Brawl. But, what?
  17. Y'know, for a while there, I almost thought Song and Dance were gonna be the winners, just to hit the "music soothes the savage beast" trope. But then they started going on about hopes and dreams, and it was all pretty obvious it was setting them up for the big defeat. Has any show ever started in with that shit without following up with the other guy just totally wrecking, just to prove a point that "hopes and dreams" don't mean shit?
  18. Although, if this were OP, this whole episode would've been dragged out into a 40+ episode arc.
  19. Much as I disliked One Piece, I'd probably take it over this filler.
  20. See, the folks in that movie made one massive error, which was attempting to reach one of the sides of the cube. If you're trying to get out, you'd be better off getting either to the top or the bottom.
  21. Kinda depends on the car, don't it? It was all fine and easy on my first ride, but after that, I basically needed to remove a tire in order to get to the filter. More effort than I cared to put into the job.
  22. Probably the one thing I might prefer plain yellow mustard for instead of horseradish mustard.
  23. After hearing probably all of their songs every day at work (sometimes multiple times per day) for the past 2 years, gotta say, pretty sick of them. I'd be pretty content to never hear them again the rest of my life.
  24. Who comes up with this shit? And why would anyone suffer for their stupidity?
