Stand Alone Complex sequel releases trailer and yeesh
rpgamer replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Yeah, looks terrible. But. And I'm not using this to defend the terrible, and it's not enough to make it less terrible. But. Looking like a Disney princess almost sorta kinda fits with the Major's approach, maybe? Like, isn't it fairly established that at least part of the reason she uses the body model she has is so she can seem innocuous and disarming? Taking advantage of abusing misogynistic misconceptions. Basically just trying to make up some justification for looking this terrible, tho. -
I'll be honest. I'm not entirely sure I even know who Oasis is, beyond a faint recognition that it was probably normal people music, and would thus be likely to elicit a response (success!). My takeaway from this is that polka makes everything better.

Could always be worse, tsar.

Hey, I got no problem with the lack of voices. The silent Jack episodes/scenes were certainly masterful. But. Idk. I'm definitely just being entirely too critical, too picky, etc. It's not strictly bad. Just, not as classy as I had hoped, coming from him. But at the same time, I can still see why it is what it is. Like a strange blend of Samurai Jack and early Venture Bros. Specifically the Brock rampages. The violence is just borderline ridiculous. Might just be I had different expectations. First impressions were that it was sorta trying to take itself seriously. And then it busted out the buckets of blood and spears through skulls, etc (admittedly, was only able to catch the second half of the episode when I was able to catch it at all). It's a personal thing, but I just didn't feel like they were able to blend all the elements that they wanted very well. No words, good animation, sound design, so forth, all setting up for something to get immersed in. But then it just goes over the top with the rest (ok, yeah, I'm focusing a little too much on how silly the violence seemed), that, for myself, just took me out of the experience. All that said, I can still see how it's a fitting inclusion for [as]. Really, it kinda hits all the right weird notes for them. And I'm not opposed to seeing more. Just, didn't wow me right out of the gate.

I'm too much of a prude to be casual about dating

Think this sorta crosses from "casual dating" to just trying to hook up. Maybe a bit of a sliding scale involved. Maybe definitions vary from person to person. Or maybe the dude's just gross. -

Actually sorta learning something here. I've previously worked with sulfa drugs, but never bothered to understand the distinction. Yay learning? -
one punch man ONE PUNCH MAN EPISODE #13 (201) DISCUSSION!!!
rpgamer replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
So, hopefully the bitching about animation quiet down after a while? It's still entertaining. Personally, something about the writing or voices or acting or something is throwing me off more than any animation. Something just doesn't sound right.- 183 replies

Seems like it's incredibly over the top, and not really in any good way. Genndy T.'s done some good work. Not sure I'd class this among them, based off first impressions. Good art/animation, I suppose. S'about it.

More likely it's just cheaper or something. And Americans are fatasses who have to have sugar in everything. No joke, just discovered sugar as a listed ingredient in this jar of roasted+salted sunflower kernels. Not just sugar. Also has corn syrup solids and maltodextrin. Literally three sugars in a product that really should have two ingredients.

Short term doesn't have to be "casual." I'm still looking for something with substance. But I also know I'll probably move again in a few years for career advancement, , and there's no telling if any potential relationship will be able to uproot the way I do.

Tbh, kinda something I feel like I'm struggling with just trying to break into dating. Everyone's always seeming like they're looking for their "forever." "Someone to spend my life with." Etc. Life is a long time, yo. Ain't no telling who I'm going to be in a few years. I'm looking for right now. Maybe it'll last a while. Maybe it won't. Just enjoy what you get while you got it. Live life in shorter bursts. Live multiple lives in one lifetime. Meh. Life sucks. It's unpredictable. I get wanting stability and comfort and routine and all that. But, we've all got room to grow into someone new.

Jojo Golden Wind premieres October 26th! (Bye bye Boruto?!)
rpgamer replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Very probably, on both. Perhaps it's a combination. After the first three parts, they'd kinda set up an expectation for the franchise. I happened to not enjoy the deviation. elfie: No fuckin shit that's how it was written. Apply some reading comprehension, and you will understand my gripe with the show is that I did not enjoy how that arc was written. I'll try to be less subtle about it for your benefit next time. -
And they're NOT PLUMBERS! "You ever seen a plunger in these hands?"

Really? Cuz it was a story that just never went anywhere. Hell, there really wasn't even any story for, what? The first third of the show? Stand-of-the-week is to be expected at this point, but c'mon, at least have a plot to progress. -

Shame I've kinda already seen most of GW on PlutoTV. But, it seems like it's a damn sight better than the last one, at least in terms of story. Still, hopefully this is the end of the Jojo nonsense? -
Weirdly, Heilung doesn't really do it for me so much. Maybe they're a bit too elaborate or something. Idk. Seems like something that would hit all the right buttons. But their sound lacks a certain flow.

I got this.

I mean. I guess I can't really refute that. But. At the same time. Original Naruto got cut from the block pretty quick once Shippuden came on the scene. Original is plenty awful. Being a little better than that is still kinda awful. It's felt the same level of "kids'show" as the original, which never felt like it belonged on the block. Shippuden doesn't totally stand out, at least for me. Idk, man. It's tolerable. If it were anywhere but Toonami, I might've not minded. But it's felt out of place ever since it started. C'mon. Can we at least stick to shows where the main character(s) have hit/passed puberty at least?

Maybe because you're believing and spreading the word of an incompetent chode?

i found an oooooooold paycheck of mine from 2008
rpgamer replied to Naraku4656's topic in Free-For-All
The check might be void, but you might still be able to get your money. Sometimes if you check some sites like missingmoney.com, you might find things like that are reported, and all you gotta do is prove your identity to state treasury or something and they'll cut you a fresh check. I recall finding there that I had evidently probably missed my final paycheck at my first job years after the fact. Eventually I went to the trouble to claim it, turned out legit.
