His wife ain’t learned shit talking about “you don’t know what you ignited in this wife. I’ll make sure no one forgets my husband or his message”

like calm down lady, one of your own cannibalized him, no need to go all stupid and continue to raise your kids stupid. Maybe back off the guns talk cuz it’s why you’re a widow now, but nah, double down and be stupid.

Like stilgar said, she learned the most important lesson:  how to monetize tragedy.  The pics of her mourning over her husband are performative theater.  The fact she would share an otherwise personal moment suggests she’s doing it not because she loves her husband but because she is signaling that she is taking his mantle.

Why don’t they get off their fuckin asses and actually clamp down on the rhetoric, their own fuckin rhetoric, and inaction that continues to allow shit like this to happen.

Cause the real systemic issues that need to be addressed would piss off their corporate donors, and there are still many idiots who fall for this cultural war bullshit. It's too useful of a distraction to stop.

we are in such a weird...ugh. just strange days, indeed.

how does an influencer deserve this honor?

To be blunt, he doesn’t, but he’s a political tool, even in death.

To anyone who says ban social media apps to prevent figure heads like this from gaining such a follower

I say then build more places for people to generally hang out and chill

because as it stands the youth don’t really have a lot of places to hang out offline and adults barely have it much better

it’s usually just bars because grabbing some booze is the average adults idea of hanging out

No, but catching a 200 yard pass is pretty epic.  I hear they’re electing him into the Arizona Cardinals ring of honor at halftIme of the memorial service.

He doesn’t. Flags were half staff here too. It’s fucked up. He did not deserve that honor. Not based off the shit he stood for. Trump’s a piece of shit.

This thread has given me a lot to think about.

Over the past few days, the amount of vitriol, hatred, and just plain nasty comments flying from both sides has been overwhelming.

I don’t think people should lose their jobs for mocking or celebrating Charlie’s death, but let’s be real—the whole “you reap what you sow” attitude doesn’t exactly make me feel bad for them either.

That being said, I get why the Right is fired up over this murder—not just Charlie’s, but Iryna’s too.

Still, reading through this thread has had me questioning a few things and even shifting my perspective a bit.

So here’s where I’ve landed: I’m starting a petition to make September 10th “Charlie Kirk Day.” His death shouldn’t be brushed aside or wasted, and if we’re expected to put up with a full month of LGQTCBY circus nonsense, then we sure as hell deserve one day that actually means something.

Smart phones plus social media apps kind of killed those dead. If the apps were banned from mobile devices, kids and adults would find other places to be. Some would invest in desktop or laptops and others would get a life. The free market we allegedly have would spike demand for third places that are not home or work.

The Arab Spring pretty much led to the death of social media as a tool for freedom activists as that was when authoritarians learned they could actually use it better and more effectively with tech bros happily abetting them. Really, if our society is to survive as a democracy, they're probably going to need to be regulated to a point where they can make no profit by doing stuff like banning data collection and the platforms from selling ads.

I would see and talk to my friends more before everyone got smartphones, now everyone is lost in little worlds of their making. Not a good thing.

Also, the onset of the smartphone correlates with a drop in literacy rates: https://www.edweek.org/technology/screen-time-up-as-reading-scores-drop-is-there-a-link/2019/11

Most excellent idea! I just had to be sure, but September 9 was the day our MoonMetropolis was apprehended. September 10 is Charlie Kirk Day, 911 is 911. Three days of celebration.

It’s Golden Week for INCELS.

Oh my, what a weeb.

But the real golden week has Hirohito's birthday, which is arguably the worst thing to celebrate out of anything mentioned here, so 🙃

Now the right is saying CK’s comments about empathy and gun deaths being acceptable are being taken out of context. They don’t know what “taken out of context” means.  when you listen to or read the things said shortly before and after, it doesn’t change anything. The added context doesn’t change the meaning of anything he said.

I mean, celebrate isn’t the right word when it comes to them.  More like put up security perimeters and distract them with specials at Taco Bell.

Context isn’t worth much when you say things to get a reaction.

Additionally, there's the context of a historical pattern and repetition. I'll grant that, at best, some of the comments could be given an "I'm just saying" context, in much the same way one might pull out an "It was just a joke" or something as a weak defense...

But it doesn't change the fact that no compassionate human would ever be having those thoughts, let alone actually voicing them, repeatedly. These are all thoughts and comments than any sensible person would recognize "ok it's actually wrong to think that and I should keep that to myself and work on not thinking that way."

The added context is he would double down or repeat every terrible comment at some point, serving only to clarify that those were clearly deeply held beliefs, not just idle thoughts.

I wouldn’t even go so far as to say he believed half of the things he said.

He heard without listening.

He was always looking to say whatever was necessary to get a bunch of college kids to pay attention to him and, truth be told, it probably had nothing to do with his death.  He was just an obnoxious kid from a privileged home who knew how to sell crappy lemonade out of paper cups on his front lawn.  A useful tool for his “parents” (meaning Trump and his cronies, not his actual grieving father and mother) to display their power and relevance and to give credence to their flawed ideology.  All the while, people who didn’t know him or particularly care about him would buy the lemonade because precocious kids like him are cute and make the awful things that come out of their mouths palatable.

We shouldn’t be lionizing this babyfaced huckster, just mourning yet another victim of gun violence.

I do not like the governor of Utah and I do not believe anything being said about the investigation. He’s pushing this idea that Robinson came from a conservative family but his views were different than his parents and he had a “roommate” that was actually a boyfriend who’s now transitioning to female. The governor is also saying that Robinson isn’t cooperating but those around him are so the things he’s relaying about the investigation came straight from them. How do I know the FBI didn’t tell the roommate “say these things or we charge your boyfriend w capital murder?”

him having a transgender girlfriend doesn’t mean magically you’re no longer conservative and it definitely doesn’t mean that his conservative surroundings played no part in what happened. They’re trying so hard to blame “the left” instead of their own ideologies that anything they say sounds like bullshit to me.

The governor keeps using the term radicalized when the description suggest a very personal animosity with Kirk.  In fact, it suggests it may not even be political.
