Have you lost the ability to sleep in? Personally once the sun starts to rise, no matter how tired I am or what time I fell asleep, I’m waking up.

I’m just curious if it’s happened to y’all, since I have heard anecdotally that this happens with age.

(as an aside, remember on the ASMB you weren’t allowed to even say how old you were because personal information bad? That was fun to police.)

I've found that it really depends on what is going on. If I have to get up to get ready for work, I definitely want to go back to bed. If I actually have a day off, I have to force myself to at least float in that twilight nap-state for at least another hour to feel like I've beaten the alarm.

I hate the middle-of-the-night wake ups though. There's no reason for them. Let me sleep through the night!

Not quite 40, but getting there real soon. I'm up with the sun ( before it sometimes) no matter if I work or not. My cat usually wakes me up by running up and down the stairs because she wants her breakfast.

Terrifyingly close to 40 now, and I'd sleep well past noon on days I didn't have to get up for something if I let myself. Then again my natural state is nocturnal.

I work nights, and to be up during the day on my off days I often pull all-nighters to start my weekend. I've lost the ability to make up sleep WHEN I WANT TO. Instead of sleeping in all of Friday, which I want to, I'll stay in bed for no more than 12 hours and then it's apparent I won't be able to sleep anymore no matter how much I try. Then when I go to bed again I want to sleep like 12 hours but instead it turns into like fucking 36.

My brain has fully shifted to day shift.  In the past few years I've been waking up between 6 and 7 without an alarm.  Katana ensures this stays true, because she demands breakfast during that time frame.  Although I was feeling pretty sick the other day and she let me sleep in until right after 7.

I found out my kitten will also let me actually sleep if I'm feeling sick. Good kitten.
