Am I the only one who's shocked that Trump's never said anything like "I prefer to visit governors that can stand up for me." or something stupid like that?

Poll: Gun ownership reaches record high with American electorate

https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meetthepressblog/poll-gun-ownership-reaches-record-high-american-electorate-rcna126037

"

More than half of American voters -- 52% -- say they or someone in their household owns a gun, per the latest NBC News national poll.

That's the highest share of voters who say that they or someone in their household owns a gun in the history of the NBC News poll, on a question dating back to 1999.

In 2019, 46% of Americans said that they or someone in their household owned a gun, per an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. And in February 2013, that share was 42%.

"In the last ten years, we've grown [10 points] in gun ownership. That's a very stunning number," said Micah Roberts of Public Opinion Strategies, a Republican polling firm that co-conducted the poll with members of the Democratic polling firm Hart Research.

"By and large, things don't change that dramatically that quickly when it comes to something as fundamental as whether you own a gun," Roberts added.

Gun ownership does fall along partisan lines, as it has for years, the poll finds."

Poll after poll continues to show increasing gun ownership and wider support for gun ownership in general. The anti-gun position is an extreme position in America, and one that can and likely will cost races next year.

That's great, but it doesn't do anything about mass shootings which are also a very popular issue with the electorate.

That's because no one really wants to solve that issue. Every time one happens both parties benefit in one way or another.

Democrats fund raise off of it by saying they will ban guns (they wont) and Republicans fund raise off of it saying they will pass constitutional carry and defend against Democrats (again, they wont).

If they really wanted to solve the problem they would really go after mental health and include involuntary commitment to a mental health facility. That is such a heated topic though that it frequently gets pushed aside because its easier to try and blame an inanimate object for the actions of seriously mentally deranged people.

Involuntary commitment to a mental health facility doesn't work with our current mental health care facility infrastructure - also underfunded

No one needs military-grade weapons in their homes and no one needs something like bump stocks or 'switches' to convert a gun into a mass casualty weapon. The GOP pointblank won't even allow the serious discussion of common-sense gun laws or even the enforcement of what few pitiful ones we do have. Their idea of prevention of mass casualty events is for MORE idiots to carry guns. In ND you don't even have to register to own a gun, you can carry one literally anywhere without any permit needed because 'muh GUNS!' and they extended castle law to include wherever the hell you are including parking lots. Because everybody loves getting into a measuring contest over a parking spot at the WalMart. :|  Or playing duck-n-cover while trying to take the recycling out.

The whole push for more mental health stuff honestly feels like a sad attempt to pretend to care from the GOP especially since every time a shooter goes off and they are a white male, 9 times out of 10 its been declared 'a mental health issue' on the GOP's media of choice [ if it's a black guy, they are more often listed as thugs that should have been pulled off the street and locked up in a prison ages ago ]. But since any and all security nets for the average American are on the gutting list, there's no way any Congress with any sort of republican majority will do a dang thing to actually fund assistance of any kind.

That’s a cop out and it’s a stupid thing to say.

There’s a reason why the state mental institutions were shut down in the 70s and 80’s:  we were incarcerating people for being mentally ill without actually helping them heal.  Decades later we’re still discovering new forms of mental impairment and we haven’t developed any new effective treatments.  It goes without saying that neurology deals with far more internal and external variables than any other human physiological process.

The reality is that gun ownership needs to be heavily restricted.  It’s not because guns are inherently bad.  It’s not because gun owners can’t be responsible.  It’s because we have no effective way of determining what situations and when a responsible gun owner can’t be responsible.

The only people truly interested in solving the issue understand that the only solution involves curtailing rights.

From what I've seen, it's even worse in the states like MI and AZ where the maga wing completely took over the state party infrastructures. They're basically bankrupt.

These pricks are great for drumming up enthusiasm with the loud internet crowds, but they’re bad for business.  It’s especially notable when companies can’t even put on the air of being welcoming when the brand is associated with turbo racists.

It makes you ask, how does the GOP plan on winning if they don't have money to campaign with?

Screaming and crying about how everything is rigged and stolen, gerrymandering, and passing as many laws as possible that make being able to vote about on par with beating Ganon with the wood sword.

The Koch brothers are now pushing Nikki Haley as their GOP pick. I feel like this will backfire on them.

They’re about to realize that old people money is no match for Trump’s cult-like fervor.  But hey, they can afford to blow a few hundred million.

Apparently women are less likely to date Trump voters to the point a Washington Post Op-Ed decried it.  Salon shot back, comparing Trump voting to other repugnant habits.

It's really hard for women to accept that they would only be the third-most important person in the relationship Send Tweet Florp.

Oh darn, MAGAts aren't desirable and that hurts MAGAt fee-fees? I thought fee-fees were for snowflakes. :|

Quick, someone trademark blow-up dolls with Drumpf's face on them, man-tits and all. Market them to sad little men that no one likes so they can have the partner they deserve.

It seems frivolous to actually post the gif here but just assume as I'm reading the story that I look like the head chef from Ratatouille finding out that the food critic is coming to review us.

I wish he'd get body slammed again.

Well Colvington lost because he fought like an idiot, but I am not looking forward to Dana trotting out Mango Mussolini to more events because he feels loyal to the guy for letting him put on UFC’s in his casinos during the sports dark ages.

Trump has made them very busy lately, what with all the crimes.

The question is how they repeal it. Because Colorado SC is specifically invoking Amendment 14 Section 3

SCOTUS has to say that January 6th wasn't an insurrection or that Trump was not involved in an insurrection on January 6th

They can say that it only applies to those actually convicted of insurrection, or that it only applied to the actual Civil War.

They could, but I still have the feeling the GOP establishment wants Trump gone as much as the Democrats do.
