(It's a Musk fan trying to bully the Elmo account.)

Well, to be fair, the average Husk fan, while also having a hand up their ass, is still punching over their weight limit when going after a Muppet.

Wowwwww he really is buying checkmarks for celebs to create the illusion that more people got them so more people buy them. He's desperate.

This would make me leave Twitter if I were Stephen King.

Elon would just post from it to make it seem like he's still there.

For unknown reasons, the blue check marks are returning to accounts that haven't paid for them.

Looks like another Musk whim.

I saw somewhere that he never deactivated them because he couldn't figure out how to do it all at once, so he just hid them

Also, the New York Times' check mark is back. Weeks ago, Musk singled out their account and took away its checkmark because the Times announced they wouldn't be paying for verification.

Word going around is any account over 1 million followers, whether previously verified or not, is now getting the check forced on them. Which now falsely states that the users paid for it.

Apparently Musk wasn't content with just one spectacular explosion this week.

Must be nice to have so much $$ that you can buy a social media platform just to troll people and to prevent people from picking on you with their big bad words

seriously just don’t use it. There are options out there. Sure they might all be terrible but still

Unfortunately, there aren't many places to go. Mastodon writing circles got taken over by annoying cliques who were the reason a lot of minorities in the industry use twitter. Spoutible is a no-go after the guy who runs it went into a full tantrum because Romance authors did what he asked folks to do and offered feedback on his site, e.g. the TOS. I don't know anyone who actually uses Hive, but I heard there were problems there too.

I figured. that’s why I said “they might all be terrible” it must be impossible to create a platform that is gonna please everyone and the ones attempting to appeal to the “bUt mUh fReE sPeAcH” people are gonna be the worst of the worst but Elon is just such a fuckin dbag dick hole that not using Twitter might be the only reasonable thing to do.   The loudest voices on Twitter rn are just so Fuckin terrible

I've done some weaning off the site. I used to have around 20 twitter tabs open at a time, but since traditional publishing is combusting, there's a lot less for me to research to stay up to date. Tumblr would be nicer if it had a better reply section.

I guess that Dorsey, the dude that co-created Twit in the first place, is now setting up a new version of old Twit that's going to be by invitation-only. The question is, would you accept an invitation if you actually made whatever the cut is to get said invite?

Hey, now. I can't help it. Sophistry is my co-pilot. :|

I actually got an invite from a writer friend. I'll distribute some codes if they come this way.

Blue Sky is the platform btw

Tumblr isn’t bad I don’t fuck with it for much other than scrolling for cute eye bleach type stuff
