Phillip Rivers retired gosh darn it! Hall of very good. Another nice Rotoworld write up from kind of a fantasy side, but wish their was more of a human element.

Philip Rivers announced his retirement after 17 NFL seasons.

Colts general manager had said Rivers would make a decision about his retirement next month, but Rivers, 39, only needed two weeks to say he would leave the game after 16 years with the Chargers and one season with Indianapolis. Rivers, who will become the head coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Alabama, threw for at least 30 touchdowns six times in his career, topping 4,500 passing yards in five seasons. Incredibly, he didn't miss a game since taking over as the Chargers' starting QB in 2006. Rivers and the Chargers had a run of excellent regular seasons with LaDainian Tomlinson as the team's offensive centerpiece, only to falter in the postseason, sometimes in heart wrenching fashion. In his only season with the Colts, Rivers led the team to the playoffs before losing to the Bills in the Wild Card round. Rivers' oddball sidearm delivery will go down as one of the quirkiest and most effective throwing motions in league history. The Colts will bring in new quarterbacks via the NFL draft or free agency -- perhaps both. QB Jacoby Brissett is an unrestricted free agent.

Matthew Stafford and the Lions have agreed to part ways, and the 49ers are rumored to be the most likely destination.

Finally, the possibility of Stafford throwing a football into the Bay is unlocked.

Yes I know the 49ers play in Santa Clara, that's part of it.

I’m so done with Brady and the nfl. Horrible officiating. They let them play, which is great, but suddenly when it looked like GB could do it all sorts of calls were made against GB. Including a replay after the fact to call 12 men on the field. Totally bullshit.

Also, Brady wasn't nearly as dominant as Mahomes this weekend.  Brady has passed his peak of other worldly to simply, extremely good.  Mahomes has his offense running on overdrive right now (no punts, man!), and he has the confidence of already winning a Super Bowl.

Yah, his stats weren't like amazing I think 3 tds and 3 int? Anyways, dude has gone to the superbowl 10 out of 21 years... lol

He doesn't call the plays and isn't a QB guru, basically a glorified RB coach for a team that doesn't even run the ball. Kafka might get hired before Bienemy.

Other OCs under Reid that didn't call plays (Pat Shurmur, Brad Childress, Matt Nagy, Doug Pederson) have had mixed success as head coaches.

Still surprised some team hasn't taken the plunge. Maybe he's a bad interview.

reid has a good record of bringing up coaches. tho it's hard to simulate his qb guru trait. easily his top trait.

anyways looks like watson has officially declared he wants out of houston. just when you think things couldnt get worse for them lmao. and now the sweepstakes for watson begins!

im not too optimistic the raiders can get him. at best we can offer carr/mariota and 2 first rounders. i doubt the jags trade their #1 pick, but maybe the jets should trade their #2 pick. this draft class seems loaded with qb talent but if im one of those top 5 teams, i would chose watson over any of those picks. for houston you obviously want draft picks, but getting a good qb like stafford with additional picks isnt a bad way to go either.

Texans already said they don't want to trade him and his only leverage is potentially sitting out half the season. Doubt his demands keep up into September. He ain't gonna retire.

He only gets traded if the Texans decide to blow it all up and stockpile picks.

is his contract guaranteed? get paid millions for sitting out, seems good to me lol.

but yeah if im the texans you have to do everything to hang on, but it seems like this relationship might be too damaged. watson wants out.
