scoobdog
It's surprising how personal music choices can be. I don't have many little things that bother me, but I can be pretty unreasonable when people misinterpret my intent and turn something I intend to be helpful or innocuous into an attack on them. What kind of little things like that get to you? Oof yea, same thing has happened to me. A lot of people mock my taste in music totally unprovoked. Nowadays it doesn't get to me, but when I was younger it hurt. I was even dragged to concerts to hear "real music" and I hated every second of it. People are just dicks about music some times. It's one of the most personal preferences you can have in this life and I guess a lot of people don't get that.
scoobdog
It seems to me that a lot of the people that are the most aggressive about what music is acceptable for other people are those who have no musical inclination themselves. You don't need to be a musician to appreciate music, but those that are quick to criticize tend to also be those who have never participated in music creation in any form. @GuyBeardmane: What's your favorite artist? Puddles has a voice that's purely magical, and all his arrangements just emphasize that. Ujico's music hits all the marks of nostalgia and relaxation and joy.

Doom Metal Alchemist
One time I got butt-hurt over something the singer in my band said about Dio-era Sabbath being better than Ozzy-era Sabbath. I have no idea why it got me so upset, as I love both eras equally and I find his love of the Dio-era actually quite refreshing (normally I only hear that online, not irl). But one time he said something disparaging about the Ozzy era and I got butt-hurt. And I think he actually does like the Ozzy era, just not anywhere near as much as the Dio era. I don't remember what he said, but now that I think about it, he was probably criticizing Tony Iommi's guitar playing, and that would get me butt-hurt, he is my hero. And I'm completely used to people shitting on both Ozzy and Dio, but a classic metal fan criticizing the riff-master is a pretty rare occurrence I guess, so it took me aback. Skiles
Every so often, the family members I currently live with make mention of certain things that were easier when I wasn't here. Like how they go through food faster, or that the house is more crowded, that sort of thing. I know they don't mean it in a way that's hurtful, but my depressed brain translates those things to "He is such a burden on our resources and it would be better if he wasn't here." But after temporarily being awash in a sea of shame and guilt and sadness, eventually logical brain kicks in and reminds me I'm being a little bitch. Then I feel better. (aloe plant got root rot) when my gatos won't let me boop them or touch their toe beans. when i step on a fallen paulownia flower that had a giant bumble bee and i killed it, ( i now actively avoid them, or rake a path) when i see a dead animal on the road, especially turtles. when i see one of my cats killed a bird, (especially if it's a blue bird) when i have to tear down a project for the 5th time, because my ocd brain says 'but it's not perfect', and i'm already behind schedule. when i see how terrible humans are to each other and to the earth. Hey, that's mean! But what I meant is that musicians tend to be very judgmental about their obscure taste in music being far better than the "fake ass shit" "mainstream" listeners listen to.
