Do you have a fully stocked first aid kit?

911 can take upwards of an hour to arrive.

Do you have that kind of time while you're bleeding?

Wouldn't it be nice if you had some sterilized gauze and adhesive bandages on there?

If it's life threatening, gauze and bandages isnt going to make much of a difference. The only thing thatll save you is pressure applied correctly.

Do you know what to do if you fall while holding a knife and accidentally puncture your abdomen?

Are you prepared for when disaster strikes?

I have a table spoon of hydrogen peroxide...and a hand full of bandaids I swiped from work...

im over prepared

I have a ton of various sized bandages and gauze and also whatever I could find that seemed like it could be useful that I liberated from the doctor's office over time (about eight years ago for newest) mixed with stuff I got from my grandparents house that is probably damn near the same age as I am. Meaning most of it is suspect and I forget this til I need it. Also have some hello kitty bandages for when minor cuts encourage me to make myself look like a tool and med size ones for covering work burns. While I suppose it could give me comfort to walk by each day, I don't know that having a more heavy duty kit would be useful if I was injured to the point of becoming a part of the yearly statistic on home accidents.

I just follow the general practice I was taught in Elementary school of carrying sharp objects with their sharp points towards the ground

Otherwise if it's a puncture wound I always leave the object in instead of pulling it out while applying pressure around the wound

Tourniquets and that @Rogue߷Alphonse suggested are damn near impossible on the Torso to my knowledge.  You'd be cutting blood flow to near 50% of the body, also the power needed to cut off blood flow to your  abdominal region would be of Hulk-ish or require probably at least 6 people using their full strength, it'd also probably crush the shit out of your abdominal muscles.  The whole wait thing, if you ever put a tourniquet on someone it's best to write the exact time on said tourniquet when it was applied so the EMT's/Hospitals know what they're working with.  It's a last resort to stop someone from bleeding out, it's basically you're willing to sacrifice the limb to save someone.

small road side in car.

a varying array of what should go into a kit, but not in an actual kit.

small kit on fridge, that should get stocked up.

knows cpr/first aid.

puncture will require pressure to the wound.

yeah...i think i could handle it.

Just make sure you have a mask for CPR - you don't know where that mouth has been.

i have one in each bathroom, plus another in the kitchen and a trauma kit in the go bag. the house kits are all pretty standard: gauze, ointment, bandaids, heat blankets, pills, tweezers, needle/thread, steri-strips, alcohol, etc etc. but the go bag has all of that and the hefty stuff too: clotting sponges, tourniquets, syringes, splints, real good pills, moleskin, wire saw, pliers/multitool, probably some other stuff i'm forgetting.

never know when you'll need to take off a foot or pack a sucking chest wound.
