  1. Hah. Maybe that's why they were toying around with Adventure Time a while back. Can't say I'm sad to see it go (Bob's Burgers, tho...), but, also can't really deny that it's held up the block/network for most of its life. Either this will be the time [as] learns what they're capable of without depending on the crutch, or they find out they've been propping up a corpse for years.
  2. Y'know, the more this excuse rattles around in my head, the more it kinda pisses me off. For one thing, the context of target audience. Maybe I'm mistaken, but shows (and I guess also the manga too or whatever) like this seem aimed at teens, maaayyybe young adults? Maybe if doucherton here feels so beholden to write rape scenes, he should probably consider writing content that's actually aimed at mature audiences. Doesn't really need to be a part of your teen boy mary sue power fantasy. Idk. I mean, maybe somewhat forgivable if the stories he was reading were also targeted at a middle school audience, but, hard to say, not being familiar with the works and how those may have been written in comparison. (and, admittedly, ben did sorta cover this point as well) Which isn't to say these audiences can't handle the subject. It can be done well, open up a dialogue, etc. But I don't think I'd consider what this guy writes to be "done well." Bringing me to the second point that pisses me off. If you've just absolutely gotta write this shit into everything you do, do some fuckin research. Stop using it as a simple plot device to allow the hero to play the hero. Fuckwad here seems to be thinking "Rape is a villainous act, therefore, every one of my villains must be a rapist." And I seriously can't imagine the dude giving any thought or consideration what so ever to the psychological elements at play here, especially with the victims. Just an easy "Oh, you saved me! My hero! Everything will always be alright as long as you're around." Insert "I'm so in love with him" inner monologue. Meh. Mostly just thinking fuck that guy, for seeming to have no respect for the complexities of the subject, including any social or cultural influences, and just uses rape as a tool to demonstrate "this guy is a bad guy" cuz he seems to have nothing better to fall back on.
  3. Log in screens really need to start listing what the password requirements were, just so I can remember how convoluted I had to get to come up with something I could remember that satisfied everything. Having to write them down or otherwise save them just feels like defeating the purpose.
  4. Idk. From what I've seen of Golden Wind, it's a damn sight better, what with actually having a plot and direction. Diamond just feels like "We're making this to keep the franchise going, but we really don't know what to do with it right now."
  5. Meh. Pretty standard SAO. Maybe the show will get pushed back to try and get a little less attention for a while.
  6. My thing lately has been buying a box of Cocoa Krispies and their new strawberry Krispies and mixing them together.
  7. I only ever played the second, and, yeah. And it's one of those games that just goes on for waaay longer than you expect. The beginning levels were nice and chill, relaxing music, but that's all I ever really saw of it when I was younger. Played later on an emulator with the benefit of save states, and damn, does it get pretty trippy. I don't really think it's a bad game, though. Fits the bill for a cult classic.
  8. Weirdest idea for a game. Dolphin fights aliens to save the world. And travel through time in the sequel. Hard as balls. Sweet music, tho.
  9. They're not for attracting women.
  10. I look forward to laughing at a doctor trying to recommend treatment options. I'd rather take the "Get out of life free(ish)" card, thanks. Instead of racking up that sweet medical debt, let's just jump straight to chipping away at those funeral costs.
  11. Impartial to the design, but I do appreciate his fighting stance. Gives off a xingyi vibe.
  12. I'd also hazard a guess that the body doesn't seem especially designed for maneuverability, so an elongated neck may help in catching elusive prey.
  13. It would've been, if it had ended with the bomb. Bit of a cop out, that after everything, he wasn't actually strong enough to beat him, and had to fall back on the last resort, but still, not a bad twist to have that backup plan. But then having the king survive that kinda felt like it nullified the efforts of everything else. The entire attack on the capitol was basically meaningless, Gon's the only one that really accomplished anything, at his own great cost. Other than that, everyant of importance survived, they had effectively won. Their only downfall was some sort of deus ex poison that wasn't revealed until later that just happened to also be able to spread and kill everyone else in the vicinity. Hooray, the heroes won, but it just sorta felt like none of their efforts actually went towards accomplishing that. Winning by plot device is a bit of a let down after all the badassery they pulled off.
  14. Discussion topic: Did Meruem deserve this arc? I hesitate to call it a redemption arc, not really sure anything's been redeemed here. Sympathy arc may be more accurate. Certainly everything in this episode was meant to make the viewer feel sad at his passing. And, personally, I don't think he deserved it. I don't think it's enough to cleanse what has otherwise been a ruthlessly evil personality. He's killed without a second thought, without remorse. If it weren't for the poison, I struggle to believe that he would've stopped in his conquest. If anything, Komugi at least deserved the happy-ish ending. She did ultimately fulfill her life's greatest desire, I suppose, so I can see her getting the "I can die happy" ending. I just don't really feel like Meruem deserved to also die happy. Speaking of the poison, I'm not really satisfied with that direction, either. Incredibly anticlimactic. While I'm sure the writers had their plans, every intention of probably reaching this exact point, it also feels too much like they just made the bad guys too powerful and realized that nothing else they could really come up with would result in a protagonist victory. They had essentially all already been beaten back, nothing left to stop the antagonists (ant-agonists, hah). "Well, shit, how do we resolve this now?" "Uhhhhh, surprise poison?" In summary, while an emotional episode, for as long as this arc has gone on, I feel like this story could've been wrapped up much better.
  15. When was the last time Family Guy was edgy?
  16. I feel like I might've been more impacted by this if I weren't also thinking "Fucking finally, this whole chimera ant business is over."
  17. Gotta admit, that was a nicely animated fight between Sakura and Shin.
  18. Great, up until it had to make up an ending when it couldn't carry on with the manga storyline.
  19. Too bad everyone got screwed on their taxes and more folks ain't getting refunds.
  20. Does the sentence look dumb when you spell out the number? If yes, use numerals.
  21. I recently learned there are now a total of (at least) 6 Tremors movies. And I can't understand why anyone would still be watching those.
  22. Instead of living dinosaurs, undead dinosaurs. Vampire velociraptors. Skeleton stegosaurus. Gallimimus ghosts. Tyrannosaurus Lich. Undead dinosaurs sounds like the perfect genre for way too many low budget straight-to-SyFy movies.
  23. Alternate theory, they've realized everyone just tunes out once they see it's more filler garbage, so they put the ads up early before they lose too many viewers.
  24. Not necessarily. Could just be getting it done if they thought the episode didn't really have a good enough break point.
