Why dont people do all fruit diets?

Because there’s not enough nutrients in that diet. Period. Fruit don’t offer the nutrients. Just like any of these “only X food” diets, you’re missing out on some essential things your body needs. The only one that is close is the paleo man diet, because that at least let’s you eat everything, as long as it is not processed.

man so many ppl are in the dark w/nutrition

the only nutrients you cant realistically get from an all fruit diet are the typical non-vegan ones: choline/betaine, b12, vitamin D(tho u can just get from sun so np on that one). everything else including protein you can get from fruit. even vitamin e & k, calcium, zinc, iron AND SELENIUM. one of the richest sources of selenium comes from a fruit, brazil nuts, which aren't nuts technically but the seeds of the fruit of the brazilnut tree. one brazil nut = all selenium for the day. coconuts are also fruit in the same sense and have tons of minerals. some other fruits have surprising amounts of minerals as well. and yes, you can get enough protein from just fruit too. you only need 50g. the diets of the longest lived ppls in the world are always low in protein like 40-50g / day. tho most americans would scoff at eating so little protein.

but no all fruit diet even if u supplement choline & b12 would be low in calories. youre going to approach or pass 2000 calories to get all the nutrients. so its not so much a "diet diet" no good for weight loss

you wont get diabetes either bc of all the fiber

so its really not practical but i felt like being devils advocate for fruit bc so many ppl think of fruit as being just sugar

You need amino acids and/or proteins, so in theory with a variety of fruits, sure.  Monkeys and other primates eat a lot of fruit and don't die... But they also eat things like bugs.

 

Also, like pat said, the diarrhea.

 

Not a bad idea to have fruit as a snack throughout the day though.
