I like the oven set to 250 myself, but a crock pot is great for beef chuck roast or boston butt.

yeah i love pot roast....and i have this big ass one in the fridge that will fit in my crock pot....but it doesnt leave much room for all my accouterments...cause i can make mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and caramelized onions....but it tastes so much fucking better when you cook it with the meat

My boyfriend has been nagging me to use ours on a turkey breast....I can follow a recipe and shit but, lol....I dunno :catlol

I like the idea of setting it and just going to work but with my luck something funky will happen to the electric and I'll come home to a burnt out shell of an apt :catlol

I usually use a crock pot for barbeque, and by that I mean just shredded meat and BBQ sauce. If I make actual chuck roast I love the oven with the veggies in the big roasting pan.

::spin:: I would never leave an oven on and go out

So, in your opinion a crockpot is pretty safe?

I'm such a terrible cook though, he wants pulled turkey, I bet he won't ever again after I make it :catlol

I didn't get that. If the crock-pot was kept on and hot, how did they get sick?

They kept cooking the pork long past any possible edibility. Even if it was kept warm, past a certain point that warmth would have only added to the decomposition going on. Pork is one of those meats you can't play with because it really likes it's diseases.

I would think the bigger issue with that episode is why Snot would be interested in eating pork products since he's Jewish. :D

That's how an uncle of mine died. His shorted out when he fell asleep/passed out drunk and started a fire. The fire didn't kill him, though. They got him out before then. He died due to the smoke inhalation. So, it's rare, but it is possible.

I love crock pots. Pressure cookers are pretty awesome, too.

I find that a crock pot keeps more moisture in the meat for shredding. It makes saucing a lot easier. If I am doing a dry rub style BBQ I go for the oven.

No, pressure cookers are great. Oh, you mean my uncle. Yeah, it is, but so is breaking into your recently deceased father's house, twice, stealing everything of value, and selling it to fund your alcoholism. Karma's a bitch. Even so, he didn't need to go out like that.

of all the kitchen things that scare me...it's the broiler (or salamander) and pressure cookers...and hell I went to college to cook...there are just some things that unnerve me
