The Owl House finale part 1

I thought this wasn't gonna air until sometime next year. Glad I noticed it was gonna be on while checking my cable guide tonight.

Spoiler

Really fun to see Luz's friends trying to adapt to the human world. Too bad it's just for one episode that they got to do that, but I guess with only three hour long episodes to wrap things up they had no choice but to condense the story down as much as possible.

Amphibia 2 and 3

I love that show so much. If you're just starting it, really hope you continue with it. I kinda gave it pass for a while, but decided to give a chance one day and got super hooked. Got totally depressed when it ended. The finale was awesome though.

I've been taking a nostalgia trip and binging Sliders lately. I'm currently in the middle of the fifth and final season. I remember seeing some of it from back when it was orginally on TV like forever ago when I was still like a teenager, but I wasn't like a regular viewer. Just kind of watched it casually once in a while, so never realized how much turnover they had with the cast. Kind of crazy only one of the original regular actors made it to the final season. Sounds like it had to do with some of them having issues with the writers and producers, and then the show wound up switching networks late in its run which sort of led to them losing the lead character, which was pretty much the death knell for it, no surprise.

I probably will this time.  Watched the first episode earlier this year and it felt kind of meh so I decided to watch other things.

After Mighty Magiswords was pulled off Hulu, I decided to give Amphibia another chance and I'm liking it so far.  I don't think it's

nearly as good as Star vs. The Forces of Evil or The Owl House but I'm still very early in so maybe it will grow on me.

Finished watching Sliders. Disappointed, and a little surprised it had a non-ending ending. Guess the writers thought they were gonna get another season, even after losing the main star of the show, which makes little sense to me honestly, but whatever. Final season did have a few bright spots, but that kinda put the cherry on the turd sundae that it was compared to the rest of the series. Aw well, that's too bad. Kinda hope one day maybe they do a reboot, or more like a remake I suppose of it. Show had a lot of wasted potential really.

Kamen Rider Black Sun 1-2.  A political/social drama that just happens to use tokusatsu monsters as its allegory for oppressed minorities, with the main heroes being a teenage protestor and an insect man with a bike.

Continuing my Sci-Fi nostalgia tour with Stargate SG-1. Just finished season 1. I always loved the movie, but never quite understood how they could possibly turn it into a long running TV series, but I gotta say it's pretty good -- far exceeding my expectations so far. Doesn't hurt that it starred Richard Dean Anderson, and MacGyver was one of my most favorite shows that I used to watch as a kid.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast 11 (World Premiere Toon-In)

Damn, they cut Dian Parkinson getting blasted and Brak's complaints about the PPG's eyes. Oh well, if that's the price we had to pay to get "Meat Fuzzy Lumpkins" intact, then I guess that's pretty affordable.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday special.

It’s pretty fun for what would probably have been a weird Marvel Team Up comic in another time (Like the one with the Avengers on Letterman).

Finished season 4 of Stranger Things. I liked it thought it was the quickest paced season of the 4 hoping it doesn’t take 2 years for season 5 if they’re doing a season 5.  I also hope they don’t give Eleven/Jane all the powers. Of course I want to see an increase in abilities but I just hate when it’s too many abilities to the point it’s silly.  It’s the reason why I stopped reading Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake series because her abilities increased to just silly levels

The Anita Blake series is a blast from the past. Obsidian Butterfly was the last book I went out and bought. That series did teach me to be careful about making self-insert characters.

White Lotus S1E6

How did this show make me want to whoop Paula's ass more than the annoying rich dude?

Apparently it’s just Hamilton’s style her fairy series was the same with the character that was a half human/faerie/brownie the last Anita Blake I read was Blood Noir and she went from in the beginning being a really talented necromancer who obtained additional abilities because of her dealing with the vampire jean Claude but then she started becoming the queen of all shape shifters and vampires without actually being either but controlling everyone with sex, I was like this shit doesn’t even make sense anymore

Don’t get me wrong her stories are entertaining I just don’t prefer female heroes that get a majority of their abilities from men and sex. At one point with each series it just became straight up pornography and that’s just disappointing the old tired tale of the succubus

Bob's Burgers 6
Bob's Burgers 22

I'm planning on catching up with the series this year after sitting out for over half a decade. And to start, I'm watching one select episode per season pre-#7. "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" and "Beefsquatch" were up first.

I watched the first 2 episodes of Velma. Some of it is funny. I wish I knew which version of Scooby Doo Velma is a prequel of cuz it’s definitely not the original one.

I can tell that a lot of people aren’t going to like the series but I’m giving it at least my 3 episodes chance.

so i just finished the walking dead. wife and i started watching it on s01e01 premiere date in what, 2010, and watched it pretty faithfully thru season 8, then dropped it. decided to pick it back up after it concluded. after catching back up and finishing it, all i think is "eh, should have left it alone after s08."

Watched some more of Velma and it’s not great.  It tries too hard and it’s like scrolling through tumblr or something idk I guess the point is to make Velma so judgmental so that she can learn something about herself and how generalizations are wrong regardless of who’s making them?   Every character is an idiot to some degree, including Velma. It’s weird

Gave up on Velma.  I’m not interested anymore in Velma learning anything and it’s just really terrible

started the last of us instead. I like different takes on the zombie genre and I never played the game so I can’t cry about any differences between the two.  Lol it can’t be worse than Velma I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but I’m strictly speaking about entertainment value.

I still need to watch The Last Of Us. I loved the first game, but haven’t played the second.

I just restarted season 3 of Big Sky on Hulu. I was watching it on ABC when it first aired, but life circumstances made me fall too far behind. This show’s not as good without Ronald or Rick.

Cabinet Of Curiosities and That 90s Show (both on Netflix).

Being an anthology show, Cabinet is very hit-or-miss. I’ve been going from fairly entertained to bored out of my mind with it.

That 90s Show is just a shell of the original show. I’m not really enjoying it much at all.

Took me quite a while, but I finally finished all of Stargate SG-1 and its spinoff series Stargate Atlantis. I say finally, but considering there were a total of 15 seasons and two movies altogether, I actually burned through it all pretty quickly. Happens a lot easier I suppose when I really enjoy a show. Indeed... 😉 I'd say I'd put it right next to Deep Space Nine as my favorite TV series of all time. It was a bit goofy at times, but never boring. Then there was Ben Browder and Claudia Black coming on for a couple of seasons, which was frelling awesome, if you know what I mean. 😜

Also, just finished watching season 4 of Star Trek Discovery, which was pretty good. Didn't like it as much as season 3, but it was still impressive, especially considering they had to do the filming for it during the height of the pandemic. Maybe even more interesting than the show itself though I thought was one of the behind the scene extras showing how they used this relatively new AR technology to essentially create a real life holodeck of sorts for the actors to perform on in place of the typical green screen. They said one of the main reasons they opted to use it was because it's actually quite a bit cheaper than green screen, though I can't really understand how that can be given how complicated the setup for it all seems. It was pretty fascinating to see though.

New Quantum Leap S1 ep 7

It's not nearly as good as the original, but I still like it.

Watched a few of the episodes with my mom when I've visited her

but I found that NBC has some of the earlier episodes I missed.
