Fucking news said to fill up my tank because of it. Wtf?!

Refineries in the areas have been affected and production has been screwed.

So definitely fill your tank as soon as you can and then drive in moderation to make it last. The gas prices are going to start going up. -.-;

It has displaced tens of thousands of people.

Oh, the gas price shouldn't be too bad unless the colonial pipeline is damaged. If that happens, then the entire East coast and particularly the New England area will be hard hit.

Global warming.

The effects of Harvey will be felt for months to years, and we'll be getting more in the years to come.

It's the Gulf.  Things like Harvey are to be expected, carbon or no carbon.

actually yes exactly that. it stalled when it hit shore which was like, what, Thursday or Friday? That was why the storm is such a big deal b/c it was going to sit in one spot for the better part of a week & rain & rain & rain

The record for total rainfall produced by one tropical cyclone in the US was broken.

It's moving so slow keeps leaving and coming back now it's hit landfall in LA

I dunno where LB and still me are at in TX but don't recall seeing them around since it hit.

They're in Dallas, nowhere close.

That's good to hear.

There's a few people from TX here I'm not up on its geography.

I had no idea Houston was the country's 4th largest city, for example.  :catlol

Yeah, and Jersey and New York deserved Sandy because they are on the coast..... like, everyone there should have expected to die... and fuck california too.

Saying that it should be expected is not the same as saying it is deserved.  I'm only saying that such events are regular and not man made.

Yeah, but like... what was your point in saying it? That's why it was retarded and you are a retard.

The point is that the "carbon footprint" has zero to do with any of it.  Things like this have going on there for thousands of years before man and his carbon belching machines ever showed up on this planet and will in fact continue.

Sponges is right, global warming = more moisture in the air = more rainfall when it storms

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/rain-from-thunderstorms-is-rising-due-to-climate-change/

A hurricane is typically hit and run - staying in a given area for only a few hours before sliding to another place.  In this instance, however, it was prevented from leaving the Houston area for several days by a series of high pressure systems.  The same amount of moisture was likely to be present.

you mean we've been getting these devastating "100 year storms" every other year since forever?
