Definitely anime of the year.

That’s weird. The dub might have a little age to it and not as much polish, but it’s the version everyone already knows. The three remake movies also brought back almost the entire cast so Americans have already had 15 years of familiarity with the cast. Akira and pre-Miramax/Disney Ghibli films could get away with it because obscure anime dubs had barely any mass exposure from the public before Disney or Bang Zoom/Streamline came in to the rescue. Or with Sailor Moon, the rerun worked to amend the 90’s-isms and political correctness that sanitized numerous characters’ storylines. With Eva, the English dub that’s being replaced is the one that everyone knows and doesn’t need to be fundamentally fixed other than a couple pitchy delivery errors from Shinji or Misato’s lines. As with most redubs, it’ll be interesting to see how it goes, but it’ll also be way more jarring because of the uncanny valley that comes from hearing a fresh polished contemporary dub of an older grainier anime.

By 6th grade, “crap” and “shit” were in my main vocabulary when I was mad. Had no one to curse at so most of my swearing was done through sex jokes.

Yeah, Goblin Slayer takes more inspiration from D&D and tabletop games. People compare it with Berserk because the action scenes are gory and there are rape goblins straight out of a doujin, but the edgier moments are regulated to just the dungeon crawling scenes. It ends up being far more lighthearted and mellow when they’re back in town. For me, it was a pleasant surprise because it ended up not being too bogged down by the edge and focused on how other people react to the main character being well-known for his dedication to solely hunting down one of the weakest monsters in their universe. Where it feels much more like an RPG because of the hierarchy between goblins and other more/less threatening monsters, yet also makes a threat out of fodder enemies with how much more is at stake if an adventurer is unprepared or ill equipped. People expecting another Berserk or for the violence and rape to be more than just window dressing for an RPG fantasy anime might be disappointed, but the edge and it’s dedication to paying homage to the RPG inspired aspects make it a nice watch to pass the time. I also agree that Zombieland Saga is a must-see this season

Yeah it’s hard to justify online with the payment plans. They did have a Mario Kart bundle though so it’s a good start

I'm dense and didn't pick up on Lily's secret until I rewatched it. All that I know is that I was sobbing at the point where her dad saw her perform a song dedicated to him about being gone. The comments section of many discussions has gotten to be poisonous though because now you have people barging in to act offended about trans people existing or getting defensive about people calling her trans because they jacked it to Astolfo one time and are now obsessed with labeling everyone a trap regardless if they're trans or crossdressing. Here I was blogging the show, discussing Lily, Lily's dad, and the performance at the end, but now I'm getting comments that make me disappointed in humanity. Floods of "lulz trap" or "Get this trans SJW crap out of my face" or "LILY IS NOT TRANS, LILY IS TRAP, GET IT RIGHT!" from people who never read a single fucking episode I've blogged until now, as if they're magnetized to anything to justify their outrage for people who identify as the opposite gender existing. The magic of anime is wasted on complete assholes.

With the money that Mario 64, Mario Kart, OoT, Majora’s Mask, Smash Bros 1, Paper Mario, Pokémon Stadium/Snap, Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong 64, and Goldeneye would yield alone, they know full well they’d be losing out on nostalgia bucks that would be better served selling them individually.
