2 questions- 1. Do you wear glasses? 2. If so, would you be able to wear a costume of a character without glasses for a bit or would you run into walls and shit?

Yeah, but i mean, do you really need to see anything in detail for a few hours while you have the costume on?

probably not. I guess you could wing it for a few hours if you want to.

1. yes 2. naw, without them the world is a giant blur to me

This. Everything would be blurry and it would be unpleasant, but doable

so in what universe do contacts not exist?

This is always an option, too! I personally don’t care for contacts because I’m a big baby about putting stuff in my eyeballs 😂

But this would be a good solution to your issue, for sure!

Yes, and I’d be ok, it’s just my right eye that doesn’t work, so the costume should involve an eyepatch

what if the eyepatch goes on the bad eye tho?

Dude, just put the long ass eyebrows on the glasses and go on about your way....I think there is 0....absolute 0 chance anyone will mistake you for the real Monarch until they see your glasses..

I mean, you can take em off for pictures but I don't see

Fuck contacts thats why.

I cosplay...and I wear contacts for the most part....unless I cosplay as Android 21...cause then I just wear my glasses

I wear glasses but try not to go without my glasses for too long. It's quite the strain. Especially with cosplay, I wear my glasses until somebody wants a photo. Then I take them off.

More often than not, I veer toward glasses characters.

i'd like to make a Monarch costume but i'm blind af.

I just wonder if it would be worth it.

1. Yep, I haz bifocals.

2. It's never stopped me before. :D

If it's a super deal-breaker, you can always take them off for photo ops if your character doesn't normally wear glasses. I've seen plenty of cosplayers in glasses that just take the glasses off for photo requests. Most people asking for pics understand if you need that moment.

Otherwise, as far as a Monarch costume goes, you could always have a pair of sunglasses that happen to be big enough to fit over your glasses. Blue Morpho costume merely requires the mask to be fitted along the rims of your normal glasses to work.

Seen a lot of VB cosplayers wearing glasses. No one cares, everyone is just there to have fun. ;)

My eyes are finally dying so one of them needs help. I don't have glasses because I am lazy. Hopefully I stop doing that soon. My other eye is good but focusing on things can strain my eyes now, yay. I wish humans still died at 40 so I could be retired now.

Same here - same eye, even.

I only wear glasses to drive, to make believe that I have depth perception.

Yes and maybe if I tried my contacts again.

Don't know if it's been addressed, but are the lenses completely necessary for the costume? Like, could you not just remove the lenses and just wear the frames? If I were cosplaying a character with glasses, or doing it for some kind of bit, I would just take out the lenses. Then again I don't even know if you can do that. I've never worn glasses.
