ITT: Naraku buys things he can't afford

I think someone threw in SotN as a freebie when I made the misguided purchase of the Tron Bonne PS1 game.

That looks like it might’ve been a part of an odd box set. I got a PS2 box set for Metal Gear Solid 1-3 and they just threw the first game in a weird PS2 box.

i already had it on 360 and PS4. why not Ps1. i looked at amazon and the price was about that range

I mean that's a physical copy and it's still ridiculous if true....But I got this.  I remember it being $12.99 though and it came with another game I don't fully recall.

Looks like I can get it bundled with Rondo of Blood for $20 on the PS4........Now to contemplate if I wanna actually play RoB

Symphony of the Night is like 15 dollars or something on xbox.

The original is probably around 7-10 dollars on the Wii and Wii U VC. Most people don't have a Wii U and you can't buy them on the Wii anymore but you can get it bundled in the Castlevania Anniversary collection for I think 20 dollars or so with every other older Castlevania title up to Castlevania 4. That's on xbox, Switch, Steam and PS4.

Why would you spend that for a physical copy? You are as bad as bloodhawk man.

i already own it as digital on the PS4 and i had it on the 360. i saw a physical copy, knew i wasn't going to ever see one again, and jumped on it. literally right after i told the guy to get it for me, there was a guy looking at it who said "damn it i wanted that"

I fucking hate physical media....I have compiled all my DVDs and Music onto drives and packed that shit up in a box.  The only things I will keep are NES games and that's just until I find the highest bidder.

Well, this trail of conversation is me falling constantly for the long troll and thinking you actually can't afford this.....which is why I suggested cheaper options. But yeah .I doubt you bought it and went in the hole.

Are those store cases and you actually paid $65 for a caseless SotN?

so i looked at that too. it's a reproduction case. anything that had a real case that wasn't in shit condition was going for more than the store asked for it.

'there were others that had that case that were going for the same price https://www.ebay.com/itm/Castlevania-Symphony-of-the-Night-Black-Label-DISC-ONLY-Custom-Case-Included/254624082713?epid=2357&hash=item3b48c72b19:g:b8gAAOSwG~Re4~qd

I thought the cover art and box for SOTN was a bit sketchy since I don't remember it ever looking like that but the disk itself is legit and the game worked when I tested it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're in good company Naraku. Both in spending too much money and wanting physical copies for that sense of security.

could i have bought the disk individually and bought that case for cheaper? yes but not really by much.

the cheapest copy is $54:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PlayStation-1-Game-Castlevania-Symphony-of-the-Night-Disc-Only-Tested-Works/114258550248?hash=item1a9a571de8:g:SeAAAOSwulde5agT

the case itself is about $8

https://www.ebay.com/i/174201981857?chn=ps

so it would have been $62 separately. so for the extra two dollars and seeing it unexpectedly right in front of me, i jumped on it.

65 bucks for sotn.....Are you insane.  It's not even rare.  I'm pretty sure I bought in on PS3 for 12 bucks and it came with some other castlevania game that I can't remember but I know I haven't beaten it yet.

i dont know whens the last time you checked but pretty much everything retro gaming is expensive now. sotn is about $60 disc only and about $100 complete. it was hovering aound $40-$60 complete like a few years ago but now you pay that for disc only. even the inferior saturn version will cost you about $150 complete.

This place is like a fucking lobster pot.  People post stuff about what they're happy with (see also brake job thread, or any post Fuggs ever made about her purchases (even if she did deserve the dunking because of her attitude)) and everyone piles on about how they could've gotten it cheaper or better and why they were stupid for even thinking they did ok, cause we are all here on the case to disabuse you of that notion right quick, and trying to peel off any remaining shreds of joy they might've felt over whatever they were posting about.

I expect we'll be ragging on his socks next and then the blanket on his bed and the doorknob to his room.

Sigh, you're just dumb sometimes. Sotn isn't rare in physical form so that price is ridiculously out there. As far as what costs 60 and up, I was never talking about physical media since I said I don't buy the shit and dispose of it when I can.

So if it's 60 and up in the wild, I'd never know and I wasn't disputing the price.. ...just said it was crazy since that shit is everywhere.

It's not even an OG one so I have no idea who would price that shit like that. I guess it's just fanboyed to death.

@Gina SzanbotiSzanboti I'll answer you when I'm not thumb typing
