True story, I'm glad it gave people insurance, it screwed me a bit though. I made so little money at my retail job all those years and I still live at home so they said they would not give me any breaks and I'd have to pay full price if I wanted it. However they said I did not have to take any because of how little I made so I would not be penalized. Oh and they stripped me of my insurance through my job because it was too crappy by their definition. So, for about 6 years I had no insurance thanks to that law. It was great for many but man did it screw me. I could have taken it but it would have been almost an entire paycheck each month for a 7500 deductible. Heck no.

Sucks. Im head of household with a dependent which helps. I pretty much got it because i cant rely on jobs that have 90 day waits and other foolish for coverage when i need meds everyday to function. I also must see a doctor regularly to regulate my meds and do bloodwork.

I paid $30 a month some years which was too little and they took a couple hundred out of my tax refund. No big deal. Next year i just selected a cheaper plan.

Do you live in a state that didn't expand Medicaid? That was one of the things that pissed me off about the "talk" about the ACA. People claiming the poor were already covered through Medicaid, it didn't need an expansion, yet for too many states the cut off was well below the federal poverty line for even a single person. Like some earning 80-90% of the poverty line weren't poor when the cut off was 70-75%

It kinda sounds like it since to qualify for subsidies one had to earn a minimum of the poverty line...and those in states that didn't expand and therefor weren't eligible for Medicaid yet didn't earn enough to qualify were given a pass and didn't need to pay the penalty. A bandaid put on the ACA when the states won the right to not expand.

Ok Ginguy

It's literally what it is....And it's not like I mind it.  Hell, both of my kids still get Soonercare because of their mom.....But when some fat bitch who can't manage it's finances, brags about how much money it makes at a bottom tier job, and buys frivolous shit like blue apron, and pays uber eats to drop off it's food because it's lazy, then I will make fun of it.

Haha. She's not bringing in a grand a week working at a fucking call center.

Not where she lives.

And if they were forking out that kind of pay, they would be offering great benefits.

Benefits she could afford.

I mean, she doesn't pay her shrink. She is riding that train until enough back pay has accrued, and they send that bill to collections.

I don't know why I'm wasting my time talking about her finances.

She can't manage money and brags about it, and blames it on being bi-polar.

If you have to send money to someone to hold on to it for you, then you suck at being an adult.

I spoke to soon. BlueCrossBlueSheild sent me the pricing and stuff for 2019. My copays went up $5 and only people under 18 have vision coverage. Before, VSP was included for everybody. I need a yearly exam and now ill be paying for it if i wait until next year to get it. My prescription expires this month. I guess ill be getting my ass back to crappy HR Rubin - which I hate. They are so fucking ghetto and i think they have meth heads working for them. They catch attitudes when i tell them im not buying my glasses or contacts from them. I actually was going to drive 100 miles to Charleston to see my old eye doctor who is cool af.. to avoid HR Rubin i hate them so fucking much. FUCK.

Must have been just your state.  I have BCBS and there has never been vision coverage, even in the upper tiers.  I have EyeMed for $9/mo.

Even if you're not covered, sometimes the Dr. will give a discount for certain insurers.
