From SDCC: Boruto coming in September

Recommended Posts

I post the synopsis for my Jam Orbital-influenced anime idea by Pierrot on 4chan's Toonami discussion thread one time, and now they pick up a show from the same studio. It's official: I invented my own meme magic.

By the way, no word on whether this means Shippuden is going out the door.

I could do without Naruto, Boruto, and Black Clover. I don't have a problem with ALL shonen!  I adore the fuck out of MHA and HXH!  It's just that these shows either instill in me a sense of passivity or cringeyness.  Naruto has always been the one show on the block I intentionally skipped, and now we're getting TWO of em??  Sigh.  Looks like another half-hour freed up for me to tend to household stuff.

And that will be enough of my whining because I know what happens when I complain TOO much. -_-

also, shippuden isnt even close to being finished. Boruto's going to spoil a WHOLE bunch of shit.

just put One Piece back, already

they'd have to pay the equivalent of buying a small country to get it back because Toei is really fucking stupid when it comes to pricing their shows

OP's never coming back

So, since my series would be animated by Kinema Citrus, if I post a synopsis of it, Toonami might get Revue Starlight... or, even better, Scorching Ping Pong Girls! B|

More likely, Naruto and Boruto will both run at the same time, leaving Naruto to complete its broadcast, and Toonami to grow one more timeslot.

At this point, there's about a 105% chance it replaces Pop Team Epic. The timeslots line up like a good, non-verbal french kiss.

Huh!?

Of course it will replace Pop Team Epic; that's a no-brainer. But what's trickier is are we talking midnight or perhaps earlier? Believe it or not, the earliest any Naruto series has ever aired on Adult Swim is midnight, but Boruto may change that. I suppose it's possible it debuts its first 3 episodes at Midnight, but then moves down to 11:30 once FLCL3 ends.

I also believe Pop Team Epic may not leave Toonami once it's done with its premiere run. It might take a short hiatus but it could be Bebop's replacement at 3 AM.

...So I spend close to two weeks moving into an apartment, almost entirely shut out from the internet, and THIS is the Toonami news I return to?

I may actually skip this show.  I tend not to skip shows on Toonami, but I truly have no desire to watch Boruto.

Didn't Toonami say they were going to mix it up?  That they were going to get anime from genres other than action?  Apart from Pop Team Epic, exactly HOW are they doing that, I ask?

DeMarco has said that more non-action shows are coming... I guess we can hold him to his word on that, because he's had a good recent track record.

The thing is, even though I've skipped Shippuden every week for probably a few years now, I'm actually going to give Boruto a chance. People have apparently said it's good, if only because it's not Shippuden and doesn't have the problem with endless uninteresting filler. I hope it's something refreshingly different among the anime I watch, and even compared to the rest of Toonami.

Most likely. The timing just works out. Unless they take Labor Day weekend off for a marathon.

PTE just aired Episode 4 last Saturday night, which means we're on 5 this weekend. Episodes 6-9 would air in August, and then 10-12 in September. Even with a Labor Day marathon, we're still on track for Boruto to replace PTE on 9/29.

I remember Jman saying that he hated the Naruto manga's ending, having a bit to do with the shipping, and thought it invalidated a lot of what made the work great. :|

Yeah, and the follow up is kinda realistic about the results (Sakura is completely miserable, Naruto has a son that hates him), but...why would I want to watch a show about that?  Hey, remember the characters you all liked?  Watch as they become crushed by the responsibilities of daily life, terrible choices, and loveless marriages!

As much as I rag on One Piece and it never ending, it doesn’t mess with those main aspects of the characters.  One could argue they’re being dialed up way too high, but it beats the alternative.

Not sure if anyone who’s following Toonami’s Shippuden broadcast doesn’t know what happens next, but they’ll sure as shit know if the first episode of this airs right away.

They will be disappointed that Naruto and Sasuke dint end up together

Well I was hoping the livestream they ran last Saturday with the Boruto announcement would be added to Adult Swim's streaming archives as a Pre-Flight episode, but it's not on there still. SO maybe it's a case of "catch it live or ..... fffffffffck yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...."

I already know about the hilariously shitty ending.  It won't spoil much.

Pop Team Epic is it so far.  They really are being as safe as possible with Boruto.  It's really disappointing.  Shippuden is mostly terrible, the "good part" of Naruto isn't as good as you remember when you re-watch it; I don't see Boruto being an improvement, even if Kishimoto isn't writing it.

Earlier DeMarco said they were only getting THREE shows for the rest of 2018, remember? We had a whole thread about it.

Boruto makes four.

I call shenanigans. Right now it very much seems like it was a last-minute addition that he was forced to shove into the block.

I did not read anything like that.

Also, since they're airing the next part of JoJo's, shouldn't the number be five?

Ah, okay.

The key word there is "our next three acquisitions". That doesn't mean that those three acquisitions are the only ones he made all year. As expected, it was just Elfie being overly dramatic as he usually is.

[mha = psyched; pte = confusing; jojo/titan/boruto = in the pocket]
