rants Haters/Complainers: Legacy of Spleen
Chapinator_X replied to mthor's topic in General Discussion
This year was so rough on me that I’m really not looking forward to 2022. I barely got over the trauma of seeing a loved one have to go through surgery alone. I thought getting tattoos and going on a day-long drive to Savannah would help give me a better impression of the year. I thought anxiety and panic attacks would be my only issues, but writing it all out makes me feel like I made reckless decisions because I snapped. I broke down hard the second night she spent at the hospital. I felt so pathetic that I couldn’t be there the entire day so she didn’t spend some nights alone at a hospital. I think I’d fall apart if I go through anything like it again, but I know life’s going to pepper in more of those moments for me. I’m also a nervous wreck about being in her shoes and having to go under the knife for an extended period of time. I wish things didn’t bother me so much, but I repress so much of how I feel that when it rains, it pours hard. I do a good job at being an unbothered stone wall, but it causes me to break down when something affects me enough to make me react. -
I created a separate Christmas list for expletive, but by the time I made it, it was too late and I got normal gifts instead.

I told my sister not to get me anything expensive
Chapinator_X replied to bnmjy's topic in Free-For-All
Makes sense. Back when I got the PS5 around last summer, I had nothing but the PS4 games that I could transfer over. Some were optimized for the system, but others just played like how they would on the Pro. I spent most of the year with only FFVII remake and Tony Hawk as the two games I had with PS5 updates. At this point, I added Yakuza 7, NBA, Death Stranding, and the Demon Slayer game, but that was by the time there were Black Friday sales. -
Happy New Years Eve Eve

Noice! Have any games for it yet or is it just the system at the moment? -
It’s pretty surreal to see Bowser porn where he looks more like how he does in the game. Usually, they’ll just draw him as a buff dude with a small shell on his back and call it a day.

Tiger and Bunny Season 2 is a Netflix exclusive
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
It was an awesome show. It was a novel idea to have it focus on a world where superheroes are stuck doing a COPS-like reality TV show and have Pepsi logos plastered on them in order to be taken seriously. At the same time, each character was dramatically different from one another, making it so that you have young adults, teens, and elder statesman sharing the spotlight as they brought their own experiences to their struggle to work with their corporate overlords while also fighting crime and domestic terrorists on TV for entertainment. The show also had awesome standalone character-specific episodes because most of the characters managed to bring their own personalities to the table. -
Fuck, that reminds me I spent most of this year grinding for levels and equipment in Tales of Zestiria. The insanity’s back!

Tiger and Bunny Season 2 is a Netflix exclusive
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
This feels like a miscalculation. Tiger & Bunny was great, but I don’t know if there’s been enough fervor for the property within the past decade to warrant Netflix to toss money into a second season. -
When I stopped doing the same thing again and again, expecting for things to change.

Matrix Resurrections - 8/10 I had a great time with the movie. It felt like the one of the couple reboot sequels out there that aimed to comment on the franchise’s popularity without feeling the need to recapture what made it popular in a “they don’t make it like this anymore” feel. If they had to make a Matrix 4, making it a metatext on all of the basic surface-level takes on the films was the best way of going about it. It felt more necessary and important as a sequel that gave agency to the material and spoke for itself as far as what it thinks about the demand for a Matrix 4 with crowd-pleasing callbacks, slow motion bullet dodging, or being redpilled. It was a little on-the-nose, but with the level of camp and bombast the series had, it was a pleasant surprise to see how well it worked to have the film spend its time focusing on both Neo as a symbolic figure and Neo as a creative who is completely exhausted from having his experiences, accomplishments, and identity boiled down to simplistic, reductive fantasies. Dune was definitely the best popcorn movie of the year, but Matrix Resurrections was a guilty pleasure of mine.

I’ve been buying more games lately, but I was this close to getting the Pretty Boy Detective novels from the Rightstuf sale. I was trying to look for discounts on Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, but nothing that came up was as much of a steal as the discounts I neglected last year.

Hazbin Hotel - Hell is getting interest in your animated pilot
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Movies & Television
The site’s a bit hokey, but it’s the closest article that talks about the recasting. https://www.thefocus.news/tv/hazbin-hotel-recast/ I just think it’s crazy because Hazbin Hotel has had the same cast for the past two years. Where rather than trying to iron out getting online VA’s unionized for the roles they played, they took the least laborious option and removed them altogether. It’s not shocking since changes are bound to happen when you’re going from a web original to a TV program. I’m mostly surprised they didn’t try to throw enough resources into getting the voices for Angel Dust or Charlie’s singing voice back. -
RIP. He always gave good recommends when you asked him for advice in Madden 2005.

https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2021/12/28-1/sentai-filmworks-announces-third-season-of-teasing-master-takagi-san-as-hidive-exclusive-simulcast The first season started out as a Funimation property. But then, Netflix outbid them for season 2 for no reason, causing the show to shift platforms, be redubbed, and follow their release schedule. Once S2 underperformed, the show’s standing made it undesirable for both parties to return for S3. But then, in comes Sentai in with the save as a HiDive simulcast. Now here’s the real kicker; the dub. The first two seasons had completely different dubs based on how the two companies source them. Since Sentai is a Texas company, they could theoretically reunite the S1 dub cast. They could also pull out the stops to get the Netflix cast together if they want to commit to that much work. The third option is having almost as many dub cast changes as Evangelion with completely new VA’s. It’s such a shitshow that it’s hard to tell whether to find it baffling or hilarious that three different platforms have to be used to keep up with the show.

The Popeyes chicken sandwich is so good
Chapinator_X replied to That_One_Guy's topic in Free-For-All
I like chicken and waffles, but mostly because it’s a convoluted way to have maple syrup on fried chicken. -
Just got the PS5 edition with the discounted update. Still wondering if I made a mistake or not, but it definitely feels nicer and smoother to play. The haptics are always appreciated with how the controller reacts to your terrain. I also appreciate quality of life things like the shooting range to get used to the BT weapons since fighting BTs was my Achilles heel in the original game. I think I’m close to the midway point since I’m around Chapter 6, but hopefully things open up more.

Jason Demarco started venting on twitter recently
Chapinator_X replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
With TV and cable being the court of last resort in an age of cord-cutting and streaming, I can see why he’d be upset. I imagine broadcasting rights become less certain when priorities are going to shift towards giving Netflix and CR access before a TV station. A streaming platform where watching the latest anime is as simple as a click of a button will gather more attention to your property than the midnight hour of a cable channel. Toonami’s best workaround was creating/producing original shows themselves, but it likely won’t open any new doors for them to simulcast the next major shonen. -

There’s something sobering about the contrast between crispy chicken and soft bread.
