rants Haters/Complainers: Legacy of Spleen

I swear, whoever composed the songs for the GoogleFi ads set out to make some of the most godawful music ever conceived. -
Nothing too extensive. At most, you have a lot of articles that mirror these warnings, but these are going off of American laws: https://cakeboss.com/selling-cakes-with-copyrighted-characters/ But like with what Jman was saying, alot of it is determined by what can be publicized or how it’s sold. I’d imagine you could sell an Demon Slayer cake if you use a pre-bought topper or dance around where the characters are from. It might also be why some ice cream shops might rename the “Superman” flavor to avoid legal issues while other shops know they’re small enough to take the risk.

This story just sent me down a rabbit hole about whether copyright laws apply to selling cakes or foods dedicated to characters you don’t have the license for. I’m so used to seeing second-hand Disney and Mickey merch that it never occurred to me that you would need to have a license to commercially sell a cake that looks like Olaf or Zenitsu at a bakery.

SMT V is coming in the mail soon, but I’m almost done with Tales of Zestiria. How have I never learned about this game until now? It’s jank as hell in a kusoge sorta way, but I love the characters and the juxtaposition between the fantasy setting and the campy, irreverent tone. It being the first game I’ve played where your main dude has a twink bf by default is also a bonus. I need to get into more of these Tales games. I’ll probably alternate between Vesparia and SMT V for the next month or so. I have a couple backlog games like AI and The Witcher 3, but I’ll likely have to chip away at those once I get the motivation.

Netflix doing anime presentation November 9 with preview of Stone Ocean
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Never forget what they took away from us: But even though it’s far better than Netflix quietly smothering the show like what they’d do with their older anime, they never realized how screwy their batch schedule can get. Shaman King has been a weekly release since April, but Netflix is still on Episode 12 while the broadcast is currently on Episode 31. For a lack of better words, a release like this for Stone Ocean would be complete ass. If that’s the template they’re working off of, you’ll either have to deal with the irregular batches or sail the seven seas to keep up with everyone watching it. -
Crows are about as abundant here as pigeons.

You know you’ve lead a messy life when the first person to tell people you bit the big one says, “I guess I should preface this by saying this isn’t a joke…”

High Guardian Spice resurfaces after nearly two years of silence
Chapinator_X replied to The1gairon's topic in Anime & Manga
Most of the main cast are either first time VA’s or affordable VAs with much smaller credits. Oh they do have actual VA’s too, but they made the crazy decision of having Cam Clarke, Barbara Goodson, Stephanie Sheh, and AJ Beckles shoved into smaller roles. Funny enough, Slime Boy’s VA is the bassist (among several other instruments, especially the musical saw) for Neutral Milk Hotel. Pretty sure they got him in for a scene where the character plays a musical saw, but it’s pretty random to pull a 90’s indie musician aside to do voices for a Crunchyroll cartoon. It’s also what gave me Neo Yokio vibes from this show, but at least from that, the show was more interested in making fun of contemporary yuppies than live under the shadows of all their favorite anime. -

I’ve only seen this show through clips, but Slime Boy and his shitty iPhone mic are currently my favorite fictional characters this week: -

Last year, it was confirmed that “Pump it Up” was an ode to his dog. Because I’m not at high risk, I’ll have to wait on the booster since only people 65 or higher have been cleared to get it in my hell-state. -

It’s called “Shitbot”. I can add a hat to it if you want. The starting bid will be at 1,000,000 Squid Game bitcoins.

Inside Job sort of acknowledges something about Netflix and anime
Chapinator_X replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Is Akira even on Netflix? But it helps that Akira is about as recognizable in the States as My Neighbor Totoro. When South Park, Kanye West, and a ton of Cartoon Network shows have been throwing references around for years, you’re bound to have a wider audience that’s already been introduced to Akira because it happens to be the favorite anime of so many western creatives.
