I just don't think I'm the type to work in sales
Doom Metal Alchemist replied to PhilosipherStoned's topic in Free-For-All
I want to say I worked for a couple months with one company, then less than one month for another company, then I swore off the profession all together. Aside from not making money, a huge downside is the rejection. Like I said, most people will not want to talk to you, and they won't always be nice about it, so rude people can take a toll on your mental state. The first company I worked for was really shitty and really shady too, if you work for a small company, they may "lie" about the hours you're expected to work. During the interview, they said, "You will be working Monday through Friday and also Saturday. Is that ok"? What they didn't say is that we were also expected to work Sunday, and while it was not ABSOLUTELY mandatory we work on Sundays, if we didn't, management would call us lazy and take our leads away leaving us to fend for ourselves. Oh that's another thing, taking leads away... I was struggling, so they stopped giving me new leads, because they felt they could be better used by better salesmen.... leaving me to struggle even more. -
My first metal album was White Zombie's Astro-Creep: 2000.

if having a large cock is an evolutionary advantage...
Doom Metal Alchemist replied to Phillies's topic in Free-For-All
I wonder if that even is an evolutionary advantage.... big breasts, hips, and ass on women were an evolutionary advantage because it gave off the signal to men that these women were more capable of feeding or giving successful birth to their offspring. Did a bigger dick give off a signal to women that a man would be more likely to impregnate her? -
I hear Supercollider is Megadeth's worst album since Risk, BUT Dystopia was a huge return to form.

Depending on how you get your customers in the insurance job, they may not want to talk to you either. If you're doorknocking or cold-calling, most people will want nothing to do with you, and some will even accuse you of being a scammer. -
I've never been a big Megadeth fan, but I like some of their songs. And Dave definitely does inject a lot of passion and originality in his voice. I actually saw an underground band called Archer Nation at a bar recently and the singer did a dead-on Dave Mustaine like voice. They even covered Tornado of Souls. I liked his voice more than I remember liking Mustaine's. Maybe it's time I give Rust in Peace another shot. And finally give Peace Sells a shot too.

Isn't Thom Yorke the singer from Radiohead?

I tried the whole selling insurance game before. Worst job I ever had by FAR. One thing you MUST consider is your own personality. Are you a "people person"? Do you like to meet new people? Do you like to talk to strangers? Are you good at small talk? The more of these questions you answer "no" to, the worse you will do, the less money you'll make, and the more you'll loathe the job. -
I never liked Radiohead.

Gonna have to give the edge to Cobain because he could sing AND play the guitar. Layne Staley was definitely the more talented singer though. Oddly enough I was actually thinking about Kurt's objective lack of singing talent today... and I might call him "the best bad singer ever." Sometimes people who can't sing in an objectively good manner inject enough passion and / or originality into what they do to magically turn it good and worthwhile. Kurt Cobain was one of those singers.

I'm sorry, but that is just hilarious.

what is your favorite Queen song?
Doom Metal Alchemist replied to resurrected's topic in Arts, Literature & Music
There was one I heard on the radio that's not played very often, I think it's called Dragon Attack. It seemed heavier and more guitar-riff driven than most Queen on the radio, and I was all "jazzed" up (no pun intended) to look up the album Jazz, as that was the album it originally appeared on. I didn't even end up listening to it, as the wikipedia description said that except for that one song, that album is one of theirs that least resembles hard rock. -

My friends are probably just able to control their weed intake (often unlike their alcohol intake). -
