i saw the news today...oh boy. 

 this HURTS. it really does. my granddad and this man, could be brothers. almost twins. sound alike, look alike. 

in the sandlot, when he says 'george, yeah, i know george'. i lose it. (that was grandpa's name)

I have a more lighthearted thing to share. Last year, I watched Fritz the Cat, and the one character meant to parody a white liberal female college student said "why does James Earl Jones always have to play black characters?" Well, he ended up becoming Darth Vader a few years after this film.

This one didn't hit me as hard as I expected, I guess because I knew he was in his 90s and had basically retired from acting. What a career. He took every single role he ever had and made it amazing.

It's the same, not because I don't miss him.  I've been amazed by his longevity, so it's hard not to appreciate that we had 93 years to bask in his sheer talent and the art he created through his performances.

It hit hard yesterday because it seemed like such a sudden shock. It's a little better today only owing to his age. He lived long and did a lot in the living.
