Omfg N Korea sounds absolutely horrible. “Internal travel is prohibited in N Korea without permission. So most N Koreans never see Pyongyang or its cyber cafes” holy fuckin shit. Pyongyang is their capital city and only the elite few ever see it.  You can’t even travel within the country. That’s fuckin nuts.

I'm very iffy about the shit I see about NK because I've seen their propoganda against us, and considering we believe everything we see on the internet, I have no doubt we're not being fed a full spoon of truth.

I know the American ego makes us believe "our government could never lie to us to control our narrative of other nations" buuuuuuut.....

I definitely believe they don’t have Internet as we know it and travel to at least Pyongyang is restricted.   Photos from space show N Korea mostly dark

Oh, I don't "doubt" the shit...Just that i think some of it may be a bit...hyperbolic.

Yeah it’s possible. Defectors describe Kim Jong Un as paranoid so anything is possible.  I believe when American celebrities or athletes foolishly go there, the government cleans shit up and heavily restricts where they go so that they believe all we hear is hyperbole

when i was stationed at tustin, we used to frequent the hill, and n.beach. rodman had a place down there, and cops were there on a weekly. his place was down from the main area (bars) of the beach, and you could see lights

just about every weekend, and the following week, he'd be in the local papers/news.

tl:dr - rodman seems the type to love this life, kim jong un, has shown him.

....and yet....

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un requested access to "famous basketball players" as part of a nuke deal with the US, ABC News reported.

of course rodman and un got waaaaay back.

You think Rodman doesn’t gaf cuz if he lived in N Korea he’d be able to do pretty much wtf he wants until Kim Jong Un got too paranoid or sick of him.

you say it as if we arent the most propagadized nation.

how may times did we see a story about paranoid kim, killing one of his top officials, only for weeks later that person to be ok? the u.s propaganda is easy to spot.

facts about dprk, they were occupied by authoritarian japan and endured terrible atrocities from the early 20th century till japanse surrender.

u.s declares war on them only a few years later after the 50s and after their socialist revolution.

korea is split in two, with the communist side beating the u.s into a cease fire. so we still at war with them. u.s still occupies their southern brothers.

today, the u.s and s. korea still engage in war drills that are specifically targeted at overthrowing the government. not to mention that we have also imposed harsh sanctions on them.

how about the u.s ends the war and get out of korea entirely?

No...no I don't say that like that. If you read my post and stop with your "I hate it here" bullshit, you'd see my stance is exactly that America sells us bullshit....but whatever, keep up the good fight, I guess.

I think the restrictive laws we read about are legit BUT I also believe that the average N Korean probably gets around these restrictions most of the time.  There is a DMZ between the two countries of N and S Korea where they travel to work probably mostly N Koreans going to work in S Korean factories. I have no doubt we get fed bullshit but I think the bs we are fed has more to with what weapons KJU is close to making rather than depictions of everyday life in NK

Was the false reports of him killing people propaganda or bad intel. Kinda like when we get reports that KJU or Putin is sick or dying and it turns out to be bullshit?  Idt things like that are propaganda so much as just bad intel.

as for the rest of your post idk all of Korea would be under a dictatorship had the US not intervened.  Are you saying the US should just leave and allow whatever is going to happen to just happen?  Let Kim Jong Un take the entire country?

Yeah they have limited access to the internet definitely and it is what the one users here says narrative control or AKA propaganda but it is a sad fact that that nation controls the narrative and the opinions of the whole country almost next to the elites

I was || close to saying the same exact thing, but Distorted already called that propaganda, so I didn’t bother. Although afaik he has a sibling or siblings living in exile and even then you’ll hear stories about the relative living it up somewhere. Not seeming worried in the slightest 😬😆

I believe he murdered an older brother in Malaysia.  And he shot up an uncle with an anti-aircraft gun.  The latter is unsubstantiated rumor, but the former was reported directly from the Malaysian government, who I would presume has no particular interest in participating in WESTERN (echo) IMPERIALISM (echo).

I think he also has a sister that is reported to be more ruthless than he is

Dude literally tried to claim North Korea and China were not run by dictatorships at one point. Pretty sure he still believes that.

bad intel is one thing, but we are bombarded with false narratives that make people think a certain way about these leaders or countries. its done on purpose to get people on board with the "that person/country is bad" narrative so it makes it easier for citizens to follow along with the nations agenda. war.

we had no business interfering in korea back then, and still have no business now. anti communist hysteria was the only reason we ever went in. anyone saying we went in to preserve democracy is full of it. we dont even care about our people here. now you telling me we care about other people somewhere far away? yes we need to leave. now. there can be peace mediators like china to get both sides to agree not to fight. and yes, china has brokered peace in the middle east so they are very capable.

i don't remember the u.s. declaring war. i recall history class, and that truman placed air/sea/land support to s.korea, therefore, entering a 'conflict', which it, is axchtulley known as.

We never did. After WWII, control of Korea was divided similar to Germany. NK invaded SK and the UN authorized an international force led by MacArthur to push NK back.

The UN resolution wasn't vetoed because the USSR was boycotting and China's security council seat was still held by Taiwan.

The peacekeeping force also arguably overstepped it's bounds, by nearly reunifying the peninsula (rather than simply reestablishing the border), and so then China jumped in and the conflict stalemated practically where it started.

Unfortunately, there are far too many parallels between Kim Il Sung's incursion below the 38th Parallel and Putin's incursion into Ukraine, not the least of which is a the astronomical loss of life for a comparatively minor shift in the border.

I've seen plenty of hilarious propaganda videos featuring NK, but the good ones are surprisingly hard to find when I'm looking for them. Maybe because I'm not using TOR lol. I guess I'll use this video as my contribution since I once watched a hilarious video promoting this airport at the nations capitol. This guy flies into NK for...Whatever reason.
