oh I’m going off on you. You thought my diss was about ethics so you countered w/such whataboutism. Trump didn’t go to Russia bc he had any influence to peddle. He went to Russia a long time ago bc no bank in the USA would give him a loan since he fucked up his credit on being such a massive waste of dump failure. I’ve always thought he was a joke. Including as I was enjoying copious amounts of caviar and vodka about 20 feet from the fucker in Manhattan when my boyfriend said “Go say hi to him” and I declined. My bf thought I was being loyal but really I just had zero interest in talking to him. This was 2014. He hadn’t even flip flopped on universal healthcare yet.

If you didn’t want to get politically offended everytime someone makes fun of Donald, you probably shouldn’t have made his gross face the logo of your party forever. Bc trump is trump and ppl will always make fun of him over shortcomings, failures, and insecurities that are nonpolitical and all his own.

Btw everyone gotta stop these idealistic pleadings to affect my opinions. Like you realize your post is exactly equivalent to nabby telling me that democrats “aren’t your friends” I vote for the ones who implement policies that are better for my interests when compared to the other options. I can be wrong, but I don’t have delusions. Doing sex work for as long as I have kinda shatters any delusions one might have about how the world works.

if you want to convert me, work on bringing your party’s social policies into the 21st century. Just imagine how much we could agree on fiscal policy and guns and shit. But you guys don’t wanna do that, so until ya do, you get nothing

I guess I get to go off on you now?

First, you asked about what to do with your gazprom shares. I simply gave you an answer, since much of Russia's financial systems are under sanction and you probably can't evade them legally, so I suggested you reach out to Hunter and have him work it out with the unsanctioned Russian oligarch and advised you that the big guy gets a cut. Tongue in cheek yes, but still theoretically viable.

Second, I don't care if people make fun of Trump or not. The mere fact that people get so worked up over him that they foam at the mouth is hysterical to me. It has risen to an actual disorder, and is purely the result of garbage tier media gaslighting and rage farming. So don't make the mistake of thinking I'm offended, I'm not.

I'm not in the converting people business. People convert themselves when they figure out what kinds of policies work to make their lives better.

The Russian-controlled administration in the Ukrainian city of Kherson has said it plans to request annexation by Moscow, a move that would confirm the Kremlin’s permanent occupation of Ukrainian territory captured since February.

If Russia attempts to annex the Kherson region it would make a peace agreement more unlikely, as Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has said that Russia’s withdrawal to prewar positions was a precondition for any successful negotiation.

It is not clear whether the Kremlin will go forward with an annexation or is using it as a threat to put pressure on Kyiv.

The annexation call was made on Wednesday by Kirill Stremousov, the deputy head of the military administration Russia put in place to run Kherson in late April. Russia occupied Kherson in March and seized its city council building in late April.

When this is over, the Ukraine is going to be stuck with a lot of Russian collaborators, both among politicians and private citizens who supported them.

Its official, Finland is going to join NATO.  Its been pretty much assumed for a while, but now they are making it official.

Putin is playing 5D chess and losing. Now hes about to have a country that shares an 800 mile long border with Russia join NATO.

This war really has been nothing short of a complete failure for Russia on all front.  Its remarkable how poorly this has gone for Russia.

Russia will suspend electricity supplies to Finland from 1am on Saturday the supplier, RAO Nordic, said, amid rising tensions over Helsinki’s bid to join Nato.

RAO Nordic, a subsidiary of the Russian state energy holding Inter RAO, said in a statement that it was “forced to suspend the electricity import”, starting from 14 May.

No, my premise is that we are engaged in a proxy war where the leader of the enemy is a completely deranged man, who is very likely dying from cancer, who happens to have thousands of nuclear weapons in his control and has threatened to use them.

Im not saying we stop arming or helping Ukraine. Im just saying its probably a better idea to not antagonize a mentally unstable nuclear armed dictator and basically dare him to do something stupid. At some point he may decide to do something stupid and that could spiral well out of control before there is any hope at deescalation. Keep arming and supporting Ukraine with everything we have, but dont gloat about it to the world.

Putin isn't really acting like someone suffering from dementia or mental illness. In the Russian world, trying to rebuild their former glory seemed like a rational and desirable thing. They've been like that for centuries. I'm sure Putin's advisors are also telling him what he wants to hear.

With its weakness exposed, it's hard to see how Russia would handle firing off nukes and then rolling over Europe with its crappy military. Not only would it be hit by nukes itself, but western troops would roll over Russian troops in what's likely a matter of days before entering Moscow. For Putin, a loss in Ukraine might be bad, but being the guy who caused Russia's demise would be worse.

Unfortunately, Russia is probably going to aspire to regain its former empire after Putin is gone. Your everyday Russian seems to think that all their former Republics belong to them.

So wrong, dumb, and deranged.

What does the average American think about how much of the world belongs to them? What does the average Israeli think about how Palestinian lands belong to them?

But yeah, it's *everyday Russians* who are just rabid imperialist warmongers.

Ukraine’s defence minister, Oleksii Reznikov, said Kyiv hopes to arm a million people as the country prepares for a “new, long phase of war”.

In a Facebook post published earlier today, Reznikov said:

Quote

We are entering a new, long phase of the war. To win it, we must plan resources carefully, avoid mistakes and project our strength in such a way that the enemy ultimately breaks.

He thanked British defence secretary, Ben Wallace, for his support to increase assistance for Kyiv, as well as the leadership of American partners including his US counterpart, Lloyd Austin.

Ukraine’s goal is to “restore our sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognised borders”, he said.

Reznikov added that he was “focusing on the need to provide for one million people who will be facing the enemy”.

He warned that “extremely tough weeks are ahead” and that Ukraine needed “unity, cohesion, will and patience” during this extremely difficult period.

Erdogan bitching is nothing new. He's been pulling Turkey away from the west ever since he was first elected. He's been doing the MAGA thing before Trump even thought of Twitter, with his paranoid nationalism. He's the one in a hard place though — he can be an annoying, if mostly equal partner, with the west, or a subordinate partner to Putin/Xi.

President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday it was not possible for NATO-member Turkey to support plans by Sweden and Finland to join the pact given that the Nordic countries were "home to many terrorist organisations".

Though Turkey has officially supported NATO enlargement since it joined the U.S.-led alliance 70 years ago, its opposition could pose a problem for Sweden and Finland given new members need unanimous agreement.

Turkey has repeatedly slammed Sweden and other Western European countries for its handling of organisations deemed terrorist by Ankara, including the Kurdish militant groups PKK and YPG, and the followers of U.S.-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen. Ankara says Gulenists carried out a coup attempt in 2016. Gulen and his supporters deny the accusation.

Turkey was not the country I figured would bitch about Sweden and Finland.  I figured that would be Hungary.

Sweden is home to a lot of Kurdish refugees, many of whom support the creation of a Kurdish homeland cut out of the current territory of Iraq, Turkey and Syria. So, of course, a lot of the organizations that try to make that happen have some sort of base there for recruitment and donations. Whether they're terrorists or not depends on what you consider terrorists.

Ah, I did not know that.  That makes a lot more sense now.

Trump out there stumpin' for the guy whose dong he want to suck. I think he might be mimicking Don Jr. said something similar the other night.

Quote

Former President Trump on Friday criticized lawmakers for working to pass $40 billion in aid for Ukraine, blaming Democrats for advancing the legislation despite it also having support from a majority of House Republicans.

“The Democrats are sending another $40 billion to Ukraine, yet America’s parents are struggling to even feed their children,” Trump said in a statement issued through his Save America PAC.

The former president claimed “no is talking about” the baby formula shortage in the U.S., which he said is “a national disgrace.”

“It is unthinkable that in the year 2022 American families are unable to get baby formulas for their children. Families whose children have serious allergies and require ‘elemental’ formula are in even more desperate and dire straits,” he added.

Dimwit needs to watch something other than Pucker Fartson. The baby food shortage has been in the real news for a while now including comments from the Biden administration about it.

Trump is just going to say what he thinks is advantageous to him at the time. Trump seems to have a superhuman power when it comes to constantly contradicting himself and people seemingly not even noticing. Trump's not left or right wing or even moderate, he's just this big fat vulture that flies around landing wherever he thinks he is going to get the biggest scraps with the least effort. If Trump thought it would be to his advantage, he'd disregard everything he's said about religion for the last five years and praise Satan.

wait but I thought earlier in the week Mitch McConnell said "obviously the situation in Ukraine is the most important thing right now and not the fact that we pretty much want to make it so women have to get our permission to use their own reproductive system."

Are you antagonizing people for saying Putin did a bad without a million asterisks to specify how America is worse?

No: Go for it.

Yes: We have a thread for that.

Seems pretty simple.

If the point you're trying to make is "Mistakes have been made as it pertains to our handing of the situation" instead of Nabs' "RAWR MERICA BAD BIDEN BAD OBAMA BAD PUTIN EH"
