Welcome to Cleveland, where the legend began…

I've been to Metropolis.  It was super sad.  Like, they have the giant Superman statue and like a small row of buildings that give the whole small town vibe, they have a statue of a female reporter that they compare to Lois Lane, and then there's Thor's Gym.  And then outside of that little street there is absolutely nothing, and about two blocks away there is a massive Harrah's Casino.

Also these are old af, I have short hair in these pictures.

It's a direct and unadulterated slap in the face.  Like, "hey, town that only gets tourists because of a fucking casino and this giant-ass Superman statue, I'm gonna open a business that blatantly references a Marvel superhero rather than a DC superhero, and not only that but a Marvel superhero that could canonically beat Superman due to the nature of his powers."

I think the bat boat is more of a slap in the face than Thor's gym.

"Welcome to Superman's home.  He doesn't have a boat like me.  Also, I probably steal all his pussy with my boat. XOXO Bruce."

When I think of Cleveland, I just think of Cleveland Rocks. Which makes me think of Drew Carey. And then I end up remembering Drew Carey doing a strip tease.

So. Thanks for that.

What about David St. Hubbins exclaiming, "HELLO CLEVELAND!" to an empty corridor?

Or the alien Travis from ATHF exclaiming "Hello Cleveland" in reference of the above when Frylock gives him his special translator helmet?

I always think of how the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" isn't about Rock and Roll.

Makes me wonder if Ian Hunter still thinks the city rocks.

the rock hall is a fleece.

the sole purpose of an inductee is to be finessed into spending as much on their induction ceremony as possible

welcome to thieveland

I only ever went to Cleveland once, when my maternal Uncle was working in Aurora for SeaWorld (then owned by ABC) writing & setting up their ski show (Batman).  He decided to take me & my cousins to a museum & the zoo, but for some reason everything was closed on that day (don't recall why) & we went back to the hotel.

It wasn't until recently that I learned that my paternal great grandfather immigrated from Ukraine to Cleveland and later sponsored my grandfather to join him.  4623 Clark looks like a somewhat sketchy area now, but I guess it was much better then.

I lived about 4 blocks from 4623 clark for awhile haha

And my biological grandfather on my moms side died in a knife fight / bled out on Euclid near little Italy which is right by where the free clinic is today which is where I got all my therapy to get my required hormone replacement therapy recommendation letter

such history
