Mix
I just feel it's weird they don't explain why every time they mention his name and title on the news.....at least outside the UK
Poof
When they got married why did she become a queen and he didn’t become a king? Disney movies explained clearly that that’s how it’s supposed to work

Disney movies explained clearly that that’s how it’s supposed to work inorite what's the point of these made up titles if we're not going to follow the very basic foundation on which they are established. If you marry a King, you're a Queen. If you marry a Queen, you're a King. The babies of Kings and Queens are Princes and Princesses. Dukes, Counts, and all those other titles go to family that didn't make the cut or people with enough money. If this is not how things are set up, then you've lost me entirely. Chapinator_X
I think it’s the stubborn tradition of needing to be within the direct bloodline to get the title and marrying in only gets you as far as Prince/Princess. Where Prince Charles would be king before Phillip by virtue of being the Queen’s biological son.
André Toulon
Wouldn't it behoove him to keep his title of Prince of wherever he's from just for the chance to be King of his own shit, not his ol lady shit...I mean, he failed...but
Top Gun
Elizabeth was born the heir to the throne and is the actual sovereign (what's known as a queen regnent), so she holds the title of queen. Philip married into the royal family and was Elizabeth's consort, so he was granted the title of prince. The husbands of reigning queens generally aren't given the title of king, presumably to avoid confusion over who's the reigning monarch. On the flipside, a woman married to a king generally gets granted the title of queen because everyone will assume her husband is the reigning monarch. It's not equal treatment, but these aren't exactly progressive institutions. And while Philip was part of one or two other European royal houses, he was never next in line to any other throne, and he had to relinquish those other titles when he married Elizabeth. Vamped
He'd never be the King of England because he's not blood related. Plus Im sure that being King would give you more power than being Queen and that definitely aint flying. He's just the Queen's consort/husband

This is my rough understanding of things, but I think there's a lot more legal technicalities that play into the mix. I had an englishman explain to me how the Queen technically owns all the real estate people buy, but can only do so much or whatever he said.. Personally I can think of a lot of better lives out there than being british royalty so I don't spend a lot of time thinking about the crown. I sometimes wonder if having tea with the queen is that great of an experience because the tea is good .... or if the tea is trash and the queen is a good conversationalist.... or would it be like talking to my grandma
