SwimModSponges Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 I really wanted one as a child, but quickly found out they weren't that exciting. One of those moments of disillusionment that was. 1
Sawdamizer Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 Yep... had two.... broke one by cooking it on the stove... the other i took off the top and wanted to see what the "lava" felt like... I was a stupid kid 1
cyberbully Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 Funny you ask....i just blew a stupid amount of money trying to win one. I might go buy one just to remind myself how stupid i am when you put an unwinnable game in front of me.
SwimModSponges Posted November 22, 2020 Author Posted November 22, 2020 I begged for one for christmas one year. Literally all I wanted. So I get it, go to my room and plug it in and wait. Well it was taking a long ass time to warm up. So... I shook it. Figured that would mix it up a bit. Didn't work. Only now there's this big chunk of the stuff floating in the middle with the heating element sticking out. So, I panicked, unplugged it, put it back in the box, told my parents it was defective, and returned it for a replacement, which I was very careful not to shake. Couldn't really enjoy it though due to all the psychological baggage that came with the experience and the fact that it took a really long time to heat up.
StarPanda Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 No never thought about it a couple of times but I was like nah
Poof Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 Yea loved it. My parents probably broke it after I left home bc it's not here now 1
Mortir Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 I have a lot of novelty lights from Spencer's.
Sieg67 Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 I have one atop of my book shelf. It hasn't been used in years. 1
tsar4 Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 Had mine since the late 70's. The globe & stuff was replaced (for free) because of a clumsy roommate. 1

It's pretty amazing you turned owning a lava lamp into something stressful. 1 3
new_disease Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 I did have one as a teen. I dont remember what happened to it
Chapinator_X Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 I had one. It was cool to plug in and keep around for a month or so, but keeping the lava lamp off for most of the day to prevent overheating ruined it for me. 1

Seight Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 I had a lava lamp nightlight at one point, don't know what happened to it though. 1

Yah they sealed the top and jacked up the pressure like 200 times normal... a shard did cut the dummys neck if I remember correctly 1
