Look, not all Southern food is good. I understand.

But if you don't like biscuits and gravy, you are objectively a piece of shit.

No disrespect intended. I don't make the rules, I just follow them.

But if you don't like biscuits and gravy? Fuck you, you're a bad person and you should die.

But I mean no disrespect. Nothing but love.

But also die.

I have only been drunk once, back somewhere around 1999 (though the alcohol snobs here would claim otherwise), but this biscuits and gravy meal was around 2010.

I vaguely remember this conversation.....I remember telling people you very likely were drunk due to not being used to it....I don't wanna look for it though.

I mean I was a 102 lb 16 year old drinking for the first time in my life.... And I never said I was wasted or anything either.

Don't remember if I drank that on an empty stomach or not.

I am from the deep south. About as deep as you can go. I do not like the white sausage gravy at all. I will eat biscuits with brown gravy. Sometimes I will brown some hamburger meat and onions and make brown gravy and put in it, then pour that over biscuits.

Biscuits and syrup is also acceptable.

Most places do serve the biscuits with white sausage gravy here though. But it's safe from me.

Damn, you didn't even get it from the context?

Country fried steak

I got it 30 seconds later on my way into the shower and almost came back to edit my post but didn't.

The post above what I was quoting even spelled it out which made it even more of a duh moment when I came back to this.

I was born on the West coast and while I'm no Jingo or nibbles with my Cali hate boner, I wouldn't live there either myself.  I've been to New York once and It's just too congested for my tastes...Mid-west and whatever Oklahoma is considered is ok, I guess.  But I love the South....All of the racism, subpar public education, sweltering temperatures, giant, mutant bugs, and likelihood to be swept away by a storm named after your Sunday School teacher is all acceptable to me vs the alternatives.

If he means country gravy, which is what that white shit with pepper and sausages is often called, then maybe.

Most southern food is great, but white gravy is ejaculate and I’d rather eat my biscuits or country fried steak plain.

you haven't had my gravy.

most people's gravy turns into some sort of gelatinous slop.

mine is smooth, and delicious.

You mean marinara?

No. Tomato gravy is a southern staple.

You fry up some bacon and onions, then use the grease to make a roux with flour and a little chicken stock. Then add a can of diced tomatoes. Add sugar, salt, pepper, basil, and add chopped bacon to it. Let it simmer. Pour over biscuits.

This reminds me of my aunt at one Thanksgiving.....Her sister (she was my aunt by marriage, so I also called her sister my aunt too...ya know, Southerners...But back to the story) had made some yams...I hate yams, so I told her I didn't want any...So my aunt was standing there and said "he'll only eat my yams, isn't that right Derrick"

That was indeed incorrect, but the truth was that at that age I was terrified of that woman and it was at the time where people just made you plates and DARED you not to eat every bit, so I had no choice but to agree....I'm so happy I'm an adult and I never have to eat another sweet potato ever.

Why you want to ruin biscuits that way?

My dad used to make pork chops braised and smothered in tomato sauce with onions and green peppers and maybe a couple pineapple slices if he was feeling frisky.

Not sure if it's quite the same as this tomato gravy but it's so good.

It's not, but I've had what you're talking about too, and I like it as well.
