Songs you're glad you don't hear on the radio/at the store/in restaurants anymore

I don't know who decided to retire this from the collective conscious of humanity, but it was a good call imo

I imagine wedding DJs being the only people tasteless enough to blare this out of any set of speakers for the rest of time

So, apparently, Theremins were originally created as part of a Soviet sponsored research into proximity sensors, which is weird because I always thought the device, or it's operating principles, could be combined with modern computer hardware to create real time three dimensional maps of the area within the range of the apparatus long before I knew about the history of the instrument...

Over the rainbow is a great song, I just prefer the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version, and I'm glad we don't hear much of this instrument. Just to clarify.

I almost never listen to the radio anymore. Pretty much any station I would listen to is either all classic rock or majorly classic rock, but there's two problems with that: They play the same songs until the end of time, and in relatively recent years my most hated rock genres, post-grunge and nu-metal have been getting regular rotation on classic rock stations. I started listening to classic rock stations as a teenager to get away from that shit.

Basically the only time I would listen to the radio is in the car, but now I play music from my phone on a bluetooth speaker.

Before I got fed up with the radio, probably the songs in heavy rotation that I hated the most were White Wedding by Billy Idol, Jack and Diane by John Cougar Melloncamp, and Centerfold by The J. Geils Band.

You can't hate the Eagles, even when they're being crammed down your throat.

Nah.

Hotel California is like their only marginally alright song.

Everything else gets clicked off as fast as possible.

I find Hotel California massively overrated, but I don't hate it to the point of the other three songs I mentioned.

It may actually be my least favorite of the Eagles' hits though. I like Life in the Fast Lane a lot more and I can't remember the title or even the exact lyric, but the one about wild nights is a lot better than that song too.

I am not posting the video.

'I Will Walk [ 500 miles ] ' - the Pretenders.

That thing was on the radio every dang time we got in the van to go clear trails in the MN parks. I walked 500 miles, you little pansy boys sat in a studio.

I was in mackinaw island about 8 years ago and some guy was playing via a guitar and everyone was getting annoyed because he didn't know anything else well about 46 minutes later I pushed him off the deck and into the water and nobody said a thing

I despise that song too, but it's by the Proclaimers. The Pretenders is the band with singer/guitarist Chrissy Hynde (however you spell that).
