I don’t think the covid is gonna kill me

but the fucking stress will...

currently I am dealing with:

assholes who won’t stay the fuck home and when I said to this old guy “ok I’ll have your medication done in about 45 minutes, but I’m gonna ask that you leave the store and come back to the drive thru for your safety” he laughed and said he didn’t believe the shit, and I proceeded to say “you don’t care about your health or anyone else’s?” He made a corporate complaint....

dumb fucks who get annoyed that we are out of products because we’re in the beginning of a fucking PANDEMIC...

a coworker who just got told someone in his household has tested positive

me trying to move into a new apartment

me trying to pay literally all the bills at the same time

my mother (now back into my life) is having neurological problems...her speech is messed up, she is having memory issues...plus she said that when she tries to read the words just seem to fall off the page and it goes blank...she’s only 56 so I’m thinking is a stroke or tumor...

my brother and I are locked into our states and we can’t travel to her or each other...

And this mother fucking cat is still blind and she cut her little eye crease with her paw rubbing to hard...

my chest hurts....and I wanna cry...but I hate to cry...it’s such a bitch thing to do....

Go ahead & cry if you need to - best to get it out of the way & move on.  I have yet to mourn my father's passing in 2017, I fully expect that will gobsmack me in the future, but I cannot do it in front of my Mom.

I'm just at home playing video games, watching TV, ordering Domino's, and getting paid time off, but I've been furloughed so in a few weeks, I'll have to file for unemployment and I think I need to file my taxes to get that Trump check too, and I should fill out that census sometime I guess. I'm not worried about it, I'm too busy for all that atm.

That is an awful lot for one person to deal with.  Is there anything you can do to escape the stress just for a few moments?  Your art seems to have really caught the anguish you're going through...

Not really....I sleep a lot....I’m tried a lot....I was working on another comic but I don’t think I can muster the energy...

The lack of sleep makes it so much worse.  I'm sorry you have got go through that.

Cry. Get it out. Hell, bitch on here [ or in DF if you feel more comfortable since that's not an open area ] as a means to just get it out of you so it's not as heavy.

I think everyone still working due to 'essential service' could use a paid vacation and lots of naps right now.

I'd settle for a taser to use on covidiots who just have to shop and be rude though. That would relieve a lot of stress and get rid of some of the stressors causing it. Big ol' sign on the door announcing 'You chose to be here, if you chose to be rude too you can't complain about the consequences' .

I just want to be appreciated...by customers and by my company.....but instead I go to work everyday with no supplies and no protection....and it’s not just me...people who work other retail jobs I feel their pain...by not being sure of what’s to come or if they are gonna be ok....if they are gonna be compensated for their service....

it’s times like these that people should look at these lower paying jobs and reconsider how they view it....

You do you.  Anybody gives you grief over how you deal with stress they can fuck themselves.  As long as you aren't doing public nuisance stuff like slamming your car into pedestrians and tossing baggies of shit at children as you speed by then they can mind their own damn business.

As an overnight gas station worker, I still see many of the same faces, as if there isn't a stay at home order.

I'm ok with martial law.

This fantasy that people are going to stay cooped up in their houses for a month is really funny to me.

Like, some people think this at all an actual possibility that Americans will comply w/ w/o being forced to at gunpoint.

People think they can defeat a fucking virus through legislation.

I mean, it's done wonders for climate change right?

I don't know if it's more stupidity or arrogance at this point.

Wow.

A whole two.

Guess which one you're never gonna see on that list.

Corona.

AKA, the common cold/flu.

You're not wrong to think that, but that's only because it's half of the equation.  Trump burying his hand in the sand didn't help, but in general, there isn't a way to prepare for a crisis of this magnitude because we haven't seen one like it in just over a century.  Getting people to stay at home isn't achieved just by dire warnings and guilt, it also means keeping them engaged and part of the effort to combat the virus in whatever small way they can.  Having a donation drive is one way to achieve that.  Having anyone with a sewing machine at home make masks is another.  Even getting parents involved in distance education is crucial.  You can only scare people for so long before they become numb to the danger; you have to also "reward" them with a stake in the process in whatever small way.

There are many people who aren't numb to the danger but are outright ignoring it like it isn't a big deal because it hasn't hit close enough to home. Many people still see this as the government overreacting and attempting to strip away people's personal freedoms. And it really stems from this idea of American "individualism." They will finally realize the severity this month from the death rate, and I suppose people will become numb in the sense of the saying "one death is a tragedy; a milllion is a statistic."

I think part of the problem is that they are asking people who have grown up being able to do what they want when they want to do neither of those things. Some people can retrain themselves to do that for a little bit and some are like "But I still want to go to the beach and the beach was open so *pfft*"

I feel like part of the problem is some people are idiots and the other part is the politicians have ulterior motives for not issuing statewide/ nationwide shelter in place orders. They had an article on CNN about our governor not issuing stay at home orders yesterday and then later that day he issued the order. He said something about not wanting to take away anyone's personal liberties.

I don't understand why you wouldn't want to stay at home when there is a disease out there killing people. I guess its easier to ignore if you're not in one of the hard hit areas.

There will always be those people, of course.  But, human migration patterns are far more economical than that, and, more importantly, the psychology of negative conditioning has fundamental limits.  The fact of the matter is humans are social, or pack, animals.  They dont necessarily need to be in physical contact, but they still need to interact with other humans to properly function.  As nice as it would be to say that the predicted staggering death toll will be a wake up call for Americans, we were well aware of what was going on in Italy and we still didn't change our behavior, and it isn't likely to change even with catastrophic devastation.  You have to replace the social aspect while maintaining the physical separation.

People appreciate you here at least. Or as much as is possible from asshats on the internets. ;):D

But agreed. I'm heading to work almost daily, no protections, supplies are running out [ I bought bottles of hand sanitizer at Bath & Bodyworks right before that store had to shut down and the little ones are the ones we are using in the office area with the bigger bottles at the registers for the cashiers ] , everyone has tinier paychecks because of all the cut hours and everyone is stressed out. There are still covidiots floating around touching things and window shopping because they are bored - they have face masks on but we don't have that option. And today we had someone call in sick and all we can hope for is that it's just stress and maybe a slight cold but we won't know for sure because testing is still a joke. And they'll probably be back at work within a day or two because they can't afford not to work even in this sort of situation.

No one who is working right now is getting fairly compensated.

One of the news sites here had a headline today: But Governor, who will shop at Dillard's when everyone's dead?

Girl that is a lot and I'm sorry you're having to carry all of this right now.  Please cry - it might help release some stress. That or give yourself an orgasm.  Also good for stress relief.  I've had a few screaming "FUCK YOU"s at the top of my lungs in my car.  It's helpful.
