PhilosipherStoned
I've had way worse before... but I guess I'm kind of like Odin. I got a free flu-shot last year curtesy of the U.S. I guess, but I've never paid for one.

lupin_bebop
I have never had the flu shot. Ever. Got the flu once when I was a kid in school. Once in my early 20s, and once in my late 20s. Hilarious part is that all 3 times.....I was working out and in peak physical condition and health. katt_goddess
Back in like 2007 I think. Missed a full week of work and found out that people were planning my funeral because I never miss work. I missed more work from the flu than I have for infarcts. Yep, flu worst than a bad heart. Get better, dude.

Get better, dude. Okay. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I missed work in my late 20s when I worked at Apple, and people were planning my funeral for the same reason. I never missed a day of work for like 7 years. They thought I might have been involved with a stage falling or a fight with the families, because I had just done a wedding. tsar4
Got it when I first started working on the clock as a "stockman" in a store. Some woman asked to use the dressing room and the clerk let her in even though she didn't seem to have any clothes to try on. She puked all over the place (a version of Hong Kong was going around). Naturally I get called, took one look & emptied a large can of Lysol in the enclosed space & tried to cover my face as best I could. A few days later, I came home from school & was really hungry, so I made and downed 2 foot long sandwiches, then preceded to fall asleep. I woke up, threw up & passed out. We ended up having to throw out the mattress. Every time I moved in bed, I had to make a mad dash to the can. I was down for around a week. Distinct Lunatic
For the last couple years it seemed like there was a pattern to it. December 2017 I got it, the November 2018 I got it. I was fully expecting to get it somewhere around those months in 2019 but this time I got lucky and didn't get it. The funny thing is I handle the flu pretty damn well actually. The last two times, and the small few other times I've gotten it in the past, it was a case where I'd be fine for most of the day, it not being until pretty late in the evening, around 8pm that it will hit me. Both of the last 2 times I was at work so ended up leaving around 3 hours early both of those times. In both cases I went home, slept for around 2 hours, then for many hours after proceeded to throw my guts up, sleep for 30-40 minutes, and repeat. And then by next morning I'm mostly fine, and by evening I feel alright, just fatigued. I'll typically feel fatigued for a few days after having the flu, but health wise I legit feel fine the very next day after getting it. Funny story, back around 2010 or whenever that whole swine flu epidemic was going around, I ended up getting it (I think my doctor confirmed that I was the first case of it in Illinois). It hit me early one Sunday, around 12 or so. I honestly couldn't open my eyes cause it felt like they were on fire, my skin felt like it was on fire, and I could barely walk, I was practically falling over myself trying to leave my room so I could tell my mom. They gave me some medicine, don't know what it was, and then I slept for around 4 hours, waking up around 4pm or so and I legit felt fine for the most part, my doctor confirming that it was the swine flu I went through. So in short, the flu just gives me a shitty night then I'm swell by the next day, and even something more hardcore like the swine flu only did me in for around 4-6 hours. Now the common cold on the other hand, that can do me in for a couple of days.
