Normally I would post this in the games section, but I'm leaving soon and I need quick responses. I have a little extra money for video games (which never happens) can any of you recommend me a dope NES game?

I can tell with one glance that you're a major hardcore gamer, and that means you should focus on the only games worth playing.

Five Nights at Freddy's, Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Five Nights at Freddy's 3, Five Nights at Freddy's 4, Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location

And then there's also Minecraft and Roblox. Better not forget about Fortnite. There's also the classic online game Happy Wheels.

That should be enough to last you til your 11th birthday.

Zelda 1 is my favorite video game of all time. EDIT: You'll probably need a walkthrough for it, though.

Couple more recs:

Double Dragon

Double Dragon 2

TMNT 2: The Arcade Game

Thats a possibility but I'm looking for more of an rpg

There's always Final Fantasy and the Dragon Warrior series. I didn't like Final Fantasy 1 but I didn't play it until after playing through the SNES ones. Never played any of the Dragon Warrior games, but from what I hear, they're supposed to be good.

Definitely alot of fun... I've only played the one for SNES. That one was a trip. It's RPG style, and you level up Ness, and his gang and fight a bunch of aliens that posess people, and try to take over the world. The gameplay has a lot of cutesy, but dark aspects to it as well.

Star Tropics I remember fooling with a bit. Looking at the NES games on switch for ideas, anyone say Blaster Master?

And Earthbound Zero, Mother is the Japanese title, is a little bit different from Earthbound. Good game, but very NES rpg where you have little direction on where you're going and what you're doing. Good game though, just explore every area thoroughly. Or use a walkthrough, you just need it to find the song.

Castlevania 2

I'm sorry. I can't walk away without asking about this one. Why Simon's Quest? 😂 You need a walkthrough to beat the game because the puzzles are so inane and nonsensical.

On-topic: I can't really suggest anything that hasn't been stated already except for CONTRA. Really fun game once you get the hang of stuff. Presents a tough challenge, though.

I see you got Metroid already but if you are looking for  RPG-ish(alot of people will argue whether action/adventure games like Zelda count as RPGs) in the future some good ones are:
Crytalis
Willow
Destiny of an Emperor
The Battle of Olympus
Rygar

and obvious picks of Final Fantasy and the Dragon Warrior games if you haven't played them(although I think 3-4 have gotten kinda pricey)

A. I also suggested Zelda 1, which he would probably need a walkthrough for, too.

B. He decided on Metroid, which I would imagine he would also need a walkthrough for

C. I can't compare it to the other NES Castlevanias because I have little to no experience with them.

D. I thought it was a fun game.

Been playing Metroid for a few hours. It's certainly challenging but I wont need a walkthrough for it. Just gotta play it and study the game.

I got Metroid!

Since you like challenges, I think you'll have fun with this one. I hated it, but I didn't play it until well after I beat Super Metroid, which improved on literally every aspect of the original. The original was always considered a classic, though.

Yeah it's not very forgiving. Lol you have to learn from your mistakes to get anywhere in this game, but I love the challenge. It's why I play these old games

I've played all three NES Castlevania games and agree that Simon's Quest is fun. I heard there is a hack out there that improves the translation and day/night transitions.

You might have fun replaying it as well, you get a different ending depending on how long it takes you to beat the game.

I'm still just figuring it out. Lol I'm having to memorize all these passages and they all look so damn similar lol I swear thats the hardest part of this game. Just knowing where you're going

I know you already chose your game but the next time you have a little money to spend, I'd suggest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

or any of the first three Super Mario Bros. games.  Q*bert is a pretty good puzzle game but it might be hard to find.

I want to play this again on SNES so bad. I might look for an emulator now that I'm thinking about it.

I made it all the way to the final boss and I still can't beat him.
